Last week's episode of Friday Night SmackDown featured a bizarre announcement that there would be an Elimination Chamber match at the pay-per-view (PPV) of the same name on Feb. 17, 2013, at the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana, with a shot at the world heavyweight championship on the line. It seemed the six participants for the match were also clear based on who was involved in the announcement but Booker T suddenly started talking about people needing to impress him in matches to get in.
By the end of the episode, nothing was made official.
This continued on Monday Night Raw just last night in Atlanta but this time, a few of the entrants in the match have actually been revealed. From the WWE.com article previewing the match:
More than anything, that is the question that will hover over the Elimination Chamber Sunday, Feb. 17, when six Superstars converge beneath the unforgiving steel to determine the No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 29. Each participant will be a former World Champion himself, personally approved by SmackDown General Manager Booker T. And within the confines of the Chamber, each will have to dig deep within himself to claim what was once his.
If the gimmick is that they are all going to be former world heavyweight champions, that leaves room for guys like Jack Swagger, Kane, and Great Khali, the three who were also in the ring when this entire thing was announced on SmackDown, along with the three already announced in Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, and Daniel Bryan. It's possible they will all likely be added within the next couple weeks.
The winner will go on to WrestleMania 29 for a match against Alberto Del Rio for the world heavyweight title. Any guesses as to who that will be? For that matter, who do you want it to be?
