For the second pay-per-view (PPV) in a row, the world heavyweight championship match opened the show at tonight's (Sun., Feb. 17, 2013) Elimination Chamber event at the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana, as Alberto Del Rio looked to defend his strap against Big Show.
Once again, he was successful.
After a weeks long feud that involved Del Rio doing everything he could to embarrass and humiliate Show, the two had a physical match with plenty of near falls and false finishes, all with purpose and reason. Although Show has proven to be a master of psychology, it's still impressive to see him put on matches like this with talent like Del Rio, who has struggled to find his place in WWE.
The story was Del Rio working the arm multiple times, first with a flying armbar out of nowhere that Show got to the rope to escape, then an armbar that Show had to pick up Del Rio and slam him to get out of. The third armbar proved one too many, forcing Show to tap.
No Money in the Bank cash in from Dolph Ziggler either, folks. Sorry!
