Tons of Funk breaking up? Sweet T needs to have a talk with Brodus Clay

Oh boy.

WWE.com

When Brodus Clay was repackaged and given a big promotional push last year, he was originally slated to work a big monster heel gimmick. He is a mammoth of a man, after all. But when he finally did show up on Monday Night Raw, he did so as a dancing dinosaur from Planet Funk who is funky.

Shockingly, he managed to get over with this gimmick.

It's been almost two full years since then, proving WWE can get a ton of mileage out of even the silliest of acts. But the shelf life for this particular character has run out and Clay is finally showing signs of becoming the monster he was always supposed to be.

In fact, his actions in the ring of late led his tag team partner, Sweet T, and the Funkadactyls (Cameron and Naomi) to walk out on him during his match against R-Truth at the TLC pay-per-view (PPV) last night (Sun., Dec. 15, 2013) at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Is Tons of Funk now broken up?

In an interview with WWE.com, here's what Tensai had to say:

"You know, Renee, 17 years I've been in this business. And I've been in the ring with some people I do not like, I do not care for. But when you step in that ring and you call yourself a professional wrestler I respect you. And what Brodus Clay did tonight... he disrespected a man that's been in this business for as long as I have. It's about winning. What Brodus Clay did was he crossed a line. He didn't care about winning. He wanted to hurt R-Truth and I'm just not cool with that. I don't know where Tons of Funk is going from here; I need to find Brodus and have a heart-to-heart, a man-to-man in a closed room. So what happens from here we'll see."

The gimmick is stale and has run its course. It's time to let Clay try his hand at running people over. Maybe this time WWE won't steal his idea and give it to someone else.
