WWE 'Royal Rumble 2013' results & live match coverage TONIGHT (Jan. 27) from Phoenix

Get complete results and live coverage of every match on tonight's (Jan. 27, 2013) WWE "Royal Rumble 2013" pay-per-view (PPV) event from Phoenix, Arizona, featuring CM Punk vs. The Rock for the WWE championship.

WWE Royal Rumble is all set to pop off tonight (Sun., Jan. 27, 2013) from the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona, at 8 p.m. ET, live on pay-per-view. will provide LIVE blow-by-blow, match-by-match coverage of Royal Rumble below, beginning with the first match of the evening and right on through to the main event.

Tonight's show will feature the most exciting match in all of professional wrestling, as 30 men will get inside the ring for the Royal Rumble. The undercard features CM Punk defending his WWE championship against The Rock, Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show in a Last Man Standing Match for the world heavyweight title, Team Hell No vs. The Rhodes Scholars for the tag team straps, and Antonio Cesaro vs. The Miz for the U.S. gold.

John Cena wins the Royal Rumble
The Rock defeats CM Punk
Alberto Del Rio defeats Big Show
Team Hell No defeats The Rhodes Scholars

Time to mark out with your snark out!


Big Show in the back with Josh Matthews and he is upset that they are only showing the footage of Del Rio putting him under the table, but not the footage of Big Show doing it to Del Rio.

"No one has what it takes to beat me. Not twice anyway."


A hype package for the event is now playing with various statistics and clips of Rumbles long gone. It's a pretty slick package.


Antonio Cesaro vs. The Miz

U.S. title is on the line.

Cesaro is out to the ring first with his US flag and US themed ring gear.

Miz out second to the ring.

Early lock up and Miz goes for the roll up but only gets the one count. He taunts Cesaro and then gets a headlock in.

Cesaro reverses and gets a headlock of his own into a shoulder block.

Miz attempts an arm drag but is stopped by Cesaro and Miz goes for another failed roll up.

After the kick out Cesaro retakes control and hits a huge backbreaker and power slam. Nearfall.

Cesaro with an impressive gut wrench slam. He follows up with punches in the corner but Miz fights back.

Cesaro counters with a huge chokeslam into backbreaker! Impressive.

After a nearfall, Cesaro is working an abdominal stretch on Miz.

Miz with a backbreaker-neckbreaker combo to counter. He follows up with an assault in the corner and is headed up the top rope.

Cesaro is able to dodge the Miz's leap off the top rope and Miz begins to sell a knee injury.

Cesaro with a pin attempt but the ref catches him using the ropes for leverage.

Miz with a roll up attempt and begins to work the knee but Cesaro escapes from the figure four attempt.

Cesaro hits the Neutralizer and gets the pinfall.

Antonio Cesaro wins by pinfall and retains as United States Champion.


Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show

This is the rematch! It will also kick off the PPV portion of the Rumble.

Before they hit the stage Del Rio is reassuring Ricardo and Bret Hart is there!

Hart gives some words of encouragement to Del Rio and calls him a Mexican Bret Hart.

Ricardo can't stop shaking Hart''s hand. Hart pulls out some shades and puts them on Ricardo! Awesome.

Ricardo makes his way to the ring and we get things started.

Big Show takes early control and lands a huge chop to the chest of Del Rio.

After a big body slam, Show continues with the chops to the chest. Del Rio attempts to fight back but is stopped quickly.

Del Rio is able to finally get some control and hits a superkick to Show. Show tries to recover with a power slam but Del Rio reverse with a hurricarana and hits a seated senton off the top rope.

Del Rio with an enziguri in the corner and begins to work the arm of Show. He attempts the arm bar but Show just picked him up and slammed him.

Big Show tries to bring a chair into the action but Del Rio takes control of the chair and delivers repeated blows to Show. He goes up top with the chair and launches himself but Show catches him with a chokeslam. Del Rio gets to his feet for a 9 count but falls out of the ring right away.

Big Show with another chokeslam on the outside.

Del Rio kicks Big Show in the groin and then lands a super kick,

Big Show is able to recover and takes the action to Del Rio on the stage. He hits a DDT and then whips Del Rio into the set.

Show takes a piece of the set that fell off and broke it over Del Rio's back and goes for a table.

Show is climbing a hanging set piece and pulls Del Rio up with him by the hair. He tosses Del Rio off the set piece and onto the table!

Del Rio makes it to his feet at 9 and JBL is selling it like he just saw Jesus rise from the dead. JBL is the best thing going in WWE announcing.

Show and Del Rio work their way back to the ring. Show is ready to hit the WMD but Del Rio stumbles out of the ring.

Show takes the steel steps and launches them at Del Rio but misses. Ricardo hits Big Show from behind and gets tossed into the barricade. Show tries to spear Del Rio but goes through the barrier. After Show makes his way back to his feet, Del Rio goes to town on him with the chair.

Del Rio sprays Big Show with a fire extinguisher and goes for the arm bar in the ring. While that is going on Ricardo duck tapes Show's legs to the bottom rope! Big Show can't get up to meet the count and Del Rio wins.

Alberto Del Rio wins and retains as World Heavyweight Champion.


Ziggler, AJ, and Big E in the back with Matt Striker. He is upset at the behavior of Vickie.

"Everyone who has a brain knows that #1 and #2 are the exact same, so I am picking #1 because that is what I am"

AJ begins to threaten Striker as Big E takes the mic from his hand.

Big E is no doing a reporter impersonation and interviews Ziggler. This is great and is made better by Ziggler bringing up unification (not that it would ever happen again).


Team Hell No vs. The Rhodes Scholars

Tag team straps up for grabs.

Daniel Bryan and Rhodes start off the action.

Bryan with some impressive athletic moves to counter a Rhodes hold.

Bryan locks in the surfboard stretch and after a bit tags in Kane who hits a big drop kick on Rhodes.

Rhodes is able to fight back and gets the tag.

Kane takes control and Sandow is not getting any offense in. Kane sends Sandow and Rhodes to the floor and tags in Bryan who hits the suicide dive.

Bryan throws Sandow back into the ring but Sandow sends Bryan out of the ring.

Back in the ring and Sandow is stomping on Bryan before tagging Rhodes back in.

Rhodes with a single leg Boston crab but Bryan is able to escape. Doesn't last long as Rhodes retakes control and tags in Sandow.

Sandow with the side Russian leg sweep and he hits the elbow of disdain. Nearfall.

Sandow tags Rhodes back in but gets laid out by Bryan. Rhodes returns the favor and tags in Sandow to prevent Bryan from getting the tag. Sandow and Rhodes trade quickfire tags.

Bryan is able to get the tag in and Kane heads up to the turnbuckle but misses.

Sandow hits a swinging neck breaker for a nearfall.

Kane tries to double chokeslam Sandow and Rhodes but gets countered into a suplex. During the exchange, Bryan got a blind tag in. He goes up top and hits a missle drop kick on Sandow.

Bryan locks in the No Lock and Sandow taps!

Hell No wins by submission and retain as Tag Team Champions.


Royal Rumble

So the Rumble isn't going on last.


Entrant 1: Dolph Ziggler

Entrant 2: Chris Jericho


I am marking out so damn hard right now. Well played WWE, well played.

Surprise return and story continuity.

Ziggler is not pleased with the turn of events as they lock up in the ring. Jericho takes early control and the crowd is going nuts for Y2J.

Entrant 3: Cody Rhodes

Jericho greets Rhodes with some forearms but Ziggler interferes and quickly teams up with Rhodes. They attempt to toss Jericho out but are unsucessful. Jericho gets the Liontamer on Rhodes but Ziggler breaks it up. Ziggler slingshots Jericho upwards into the bottom rope.

Entrant 4: Kofi Kingston

Kofi sprints to the ring and launches himself into Rhodes. He is taking it to Rhodes but Ziggler takes it to Kofi. Ziggler and Kofi try to toss each other out but are unsucessful. Still no eliminations.

Entrant 5: Santino

Santino actually comes in and clears the ring but no one touches the floor. Rhodes is able to toss out Santino as he tries to get out the Cobra.

Eliminated: Santino

Entrant 6: Drew McIntyre

McIntyre hits the ring and goes straight for Kingstong. Ziggler is on the apron and is fighting off Rhodes. He makes his way back in and hits a huge drop kick on Jericho. He tosses Jericho out but Y2J is able to prevent his feet from hitting the floor.

Entrant 7: Titus O'Neill

Titus takes it to Kingston and hits a huge back breaker. McIntyre on the apron and Y2J drop kicks him off for the elimination.

Eliminated: Drew McIntyre

Entrant 8: Goldust

Cody does not look happy about this and is calling out his brother. They are trading blows in the ring. Ziggler tries to interfere but gets some goldust to the eyes for his trouble.

Entrant 9: David Otunga

The ring is an absolute mess right now with the amount of stars in the ring right now. Cody and Goldust start to work together to eliminate Titus but it doesn't last for long. Otunga is working on Jericho in the corner but doesn't get far with it.

Entrant 10: Heath Slater

The gaggle continues as there is eight wrestlers in the ring now. Otunga and Goldust are trading blows in the middle of the ring while the rest of the men in the ring are working on the outskirts.

Entrant 11: Sheamus

Sheamus enters like a bull in a china shop and lays out everyone in the ring. He tosses Titus to the apro nand then throws Otunga into Titus to knock him off.

Eliminated: Titus O'Neill

He hits the forearm spot on Otunga and the Brogue Kicks him for the elimination.

Eliminated: David Otunga

Entrant 12: Tensai

Tensai begins to work on Sheamus in the corner but changes targets to Jericho. Slater is almost eliminated from the match but manages to survive.

Entrant 13: Brodus Clay

Clay takes a while to make it to the ring as he gets through his dance routine. Cody and Goldust become the focus of the match again as they try to eliminate each other. They are on the apron but Goldust clotheslines Cody back into the ring. Cody whips his brother into a ring post and gets the elimination. The crowd isn't happy about it.

Eliminated: Goldust

Entrant 14: Rey Mysterio

Mysterio hits two 619's and then hits a splash on Jericho. Sheamus is trying to get Tensai out of the match up as multiple guys have teamed up to try and toss out Clay.

Entrant 15: Darren Young

As soon as Young hits the ring he helps get Clay eliminated.

Eliminated: Clay

Kofi is able to get the elimination of Tensai.

Eliminated: Tensai

Ziggler tosses Kingston out but he piggy backs onto Tensai who slams him onto the Spanish announce table. Kofi looks like he is going to jump for it but opts not to and gets JBL's chair from him.

Entrant 16: Bo Dallas

Kofi is using the chair to bunny hop his way back to the ring and makes it! In quick sucession however him and Darren Young get eliminated by Rhodes.

Eliminated: Darren Young

Eliminated: Kofi Kingston

Entrant 17: Godfather


He doesn't last long as Ziggler dropkicks him over the top ropes very quickly. At least his has his babes.

Sheamus is working Dallas in the corner as most of the participants are laid out in the ring.

Entrant 18: Wade Barrett

Barrett and Jericho try to eliminate Sheamus but can't accomplish the goal.

Entrant 19: John Cena

Not even a mixed reaction. The crowd doesn't seem to like Cena at all.

Everyone just goes after Cena as soon as he hits the ring. Cena is able to fight back and tosses out Slater and Rhodes in quick sucession

Eliminated: Heath Slater

Eliminated: Cody Rhodes

Dallas is taking his turn with Cena in the corner and is trying to toss him out.

Entrant 20: Damien Sandow

Mysterio is on the shoulder of Barrett and almost gets him out. Barrett is able to survive and returns the favor by tossing out Mysterio.

Eliminated: Rey Mysterio

Jericho is trying to get the Liontamer in on Cena as Sheamus is trying to eliminate Barrett.

Entrant 21: Daniel Bryan

Bryan comes in and is kicking Sandow and Ziggler repeatedly. Barrett tries to get a shot in but eats a series of kicks from Bryan for his trouble. Bryan and Sheamus working on getting Jericho eliminated but are unable to.

Entrant 22: Antonio Cesaro

The pro-Cena crowd is trying to get a chant going but they are getting drowned out by the Cena Sucks chants. Barrett hits Cena with a huge kick in the center of the ring as Cesaro delivers uppercuts to Jericho.

Entrant 23: Great Khali

Khali waddles his way to the ring and just walks around giving chops and headbutts when he enters the ring.

Entrant 24: Kane

The ring is just filled to the brim with wrestlers right now and they aren't focusing the action on anyone specifically.

Entrant 25: Zack Ryder

Kane is able to toss out Great Khali but then Bryan tosses his tag team partner out.

Eliminated: Great Khali

Eliminated: Kane

Cesaro takes advantage of Bryan celebrating and tosses him out but he lands into Kane's arms. He is straddling Kane and trying to convince him to bring him back to the ring. Kane peels his partner off of him and drops him on the floor.

Eliminated: Daniel Bryan

Entrant 26: Randy Orton

Orton hits a double draping DDT and then hits the RKO on Ryder. He follows up the RKO by throwing Ryder out of the ring and Ryder appears to hit his head hard.

Eliminated Zack Ryder

Entrant 27: Jinder Mahal

John Cena gets the elimination of Cesaro.

Eliminated: Antonio Cesaro

Entrant 28: The Miz

Miz goes right after Cesaro on the ramp and Sheamus eliminates Mahal with a huge knee.

Eliminated: Jinder Mahal

Entrant 29: Sin Cara

And the crowd goes meh. Literally not a sound was made for Cara as he made his entrance. Bo Dallas is working on Barrett and is able to get the elimination!

Eliminated: Wade Barrett

Sheamus tries to get Sandow out of the match but can't seem to do it. Sin Cara and Jericho are working to get Dallas over the top rope and Barrett interferes!

Eliminated: Bo Dallas

Barrett follows up by hitting Dallas with bull hammer.

Entrant 30: Ryback

Ryback gets a quick elimination of Sandow.

Eliminated: Damien Sandow

Ryback then swats Sin Cara out of mid air. He grabs Cara and then tosses him out of the ring.

Eliminated: Sin Cara

Miz is then quickly eliminated by Ryback.

Eliminated: The Miz

Jericho hits a codebreaker on Ryback! He doesn't last for much longer however as he is tossed out by Orton.

Eliminated: Chris Jericho

Randy Orton begins to focus on Ryback and hits him with the draping DDT. Orton doesn't remain in control long as he eliminate Orton.

Eliminated: Randy Orton

Soon after the Orton elimination, Sheamus delivers a Brogue Kick to Ziggler that eliminates him form the competition.

Eliminated: Dolph Ziggler

Down to three- Ryback, Sheamus, and Cena. Cena and Sheamus begin to team up against Ryback but it doesn't last for long. Sheamus is able to drop Cena but Ryback recovers and tries to hit Shell Shock but gets countered and hits White Noise on Ryback. He sets up for the Brogue Kick but Ryback counters it and tosses Sheamus out of the ring.

Eliminated: Sheamus

Big stare down in the ring now and Ryback gets his Feed Me More chants going. Cena throws a but but is quickly hit with a spinebsuter by Ryback. Ryback goes for another big slam and gets countered into a STFU. Ryback has apparently passed out and Cena picks Ryback up and puts him on the turnbuckle. Ryback recovers and delivers some punches before hitting a Thesz Press from the top rope. Ryback tries for the elimination but Cena counters and tosses Ryback over the top rope for the win.

Eliminated: Ryback

Winner: John Cena


CM Punk vs. The Rock

Time to see if Rocky makes good on his promise.

Rocky cuts a long winded and meandering promo in the back. Not much to say about it, it wasn't very good at all and he seemed to be short of breath just cutting the promo.

Punk out to the ring first and Rock is soon to follow.

During the introductions, Punk is taunting the Rock with the title.

Bell rings and Rock comes out strong with some strikes and a clothesline that knocks Punk out of the ring.

Punk tries to slam Rock's head into the Spanish announce table but get's reversed and slammed into it himself. Rock starts to dissamble the Spanish announce table but Punk is able to toss the Rock back into the ring and reassambles the table with a bow.

Fighting on the outside and Heyman gets a cheap shot in on Rock. Rock turns to chase after Heyman but Punk hits him with a huge clothesline. Punk then drop Rock onto the barrier.

Back in the ring and Punk is delivering knees to the guy of Rock.

Punk works in a body scissor but Rock fights out with elbows. Punk continues his ground assault with an inverted chin lock. Rock uses his knees to fight his way out of the hold.

Rock gets some offense in but is quickly snuffed out by Punk. Punk then just steps on the Rock.

Punk continues to work the injured midsection of the Rock. Spinning side kick from Punk and he follows it up with some knees in the corner. As the ref pulls Punk off Rock, Heyman gets in another cheap shot.

Punk kicks Rock out of the ring and goes up top and hits a flying clothesline to the outside. Punk is selling his knee as possibly being tweaked during the match.

Back in the ring and Rock realizes that the knee isn't doing so well and he goes after it. Punk is able to toss Rock to the outside and hits a suicide dive to the outside.

They make their way back to the ring and the Rock continues his assault on the left knee of Punk. Side Russian leg sweep from Rock for a nearfall.

Rock goes for the Rock Bottom but gets countered into a GTS. Rock is able to block the GTS and tries to go for the Sharpshooter. Punk reverses that however and gets in the Anaconda Vice.

Rock is eventually able to roll through and attempt to get a nearfall. He follows that up with a DDT and both men are slow to get up.

Punk and Rock trading counters and Rock is able to get in the Sharpshooter. After about a minute, Punk is able to finally fight his way to the ropes for the break.

Punk rolls out of the ring and the Rock follows him to the outside. Rock hits a huge clothesline on Punk and begins to take apart the Spanish announce table.

The Rock and Punk fight for control on top of the table and just as Rock is setting up the Rock Bottom the table gives out on them. As they stagger to their feet, Rock hits the Rock Bottom to the floor.

Rock drags Punk back to the ring where he gets caught with a huge kick to the head fro ma recovered Punk. Both men are down ad are able to get up at 9.

Trading blows in the center of the ring with neither man able to get the upper hand until Rock hits the spinebuster.

Punk is down and Rock is going for the People's Elbow but the lights goes out. It's still dark and Cole is telling out that the Shield has laid out the Rock on the announce table. When the lights come back on, Punk is just laughing in the ring as the Rock is laid out on the announce table.

Punk makes his way to the outside and drags Rock back in to the ring for the pinfall!

CM Punk wins by pinfall and retains as WWE Champion.

After the match he kicks Rock out of the ring and is celebrating with Heyman and the title in the ring.


Vince McMahon is making his way to the ring.

"I told you if the Shield got involved in the match you would be stripped"

Even though they can't confirm that it was the Shield, Vince is going to strip Punk of the title. Before he can strip him of the title the Rock interrupts Vince and demands a restart so that he can take the title.

Vince agrees and restarts the match.

CM Punk vs Rock Part II

Punk takes early control with kicks in the corner and a flying knee. He goes up to the top rope for the flying elbow and goes for the pin. Rock kicks out at 2!

Punk goes for the GTS put get countered by Rock. Rock hits the spinbuster and People' Elbow for the pin.

Rock wins by pinfall and becomes the new WWE Champion.
