CM Punk knee surgery repaired cartilage tear after scope revealed damage

More news coming in on CM Punk's knee surgery.

The original WWE.com article has been updated with the following information:

WWE.com has confirmed that Dr. Andrews completed a scope of CM Punk's knee. Andrews successfully trimmed a cartilage tear that locked up Punk's knee.

"CM Punk underwent knee surgery today to remove a piece of torn meniscus that had locked up his knee," said Andrews' colleague, WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann. "The surgery, performed by Dr. James Andrews, went smoothly and CM Punk is expected to make a full recovery."

That sounds relatively minor but WWE has yet to reveal how long Punk is expected to be out, if he misses any time at all. Again, he's reportedly been working on this injury for weeks now and the decision was finally made to get checked out to make sure it's nothing serious.

One would think the priority is Royal Rumble and his pending match with The Rock. If that means missing TLC and changing plans for Ryback, so be it.

Stay tuned for more.
