WWE reports CM Punk underwent emergency knee surgery after Raw last night

CM Punk apparently injured his knee after Ryback attacked him on Monday Night Raw last night (Dec. 3) in Greensboro. Or at least that's what WWE wants us to believe, as the WWE.com website reports he underwent emergency surgery.

Well this is interesting.

WWE.com is now reporting breaking news that WWE Champion CM Punk was injured during last night's (Dec. 3, 2012) episode of Monday Night Raw and he has undergone emergency knee surgery.

From the report:

WWE.com has learned WWE Champion CM Punk is currently undergoing surgery on his knee in Pensacola, Fla.

Last night, after Ryback drove him through a table, The Straight Edge Superstar took a late night flight to Florida for an emergency consultation with Dr. James Andrews. A review of his condition resulted in the WWE Champion's immediate surgery today.

It's difficult to tell whether or not this is legitimate. WWE frequently runs articles rooted in both kayfabe and reality on the company website, so this could be 100-percent true or it could be a part of a storyline they are working.

There's no word on the severity of the injury and Punk's status for his match against Ryback at TLC on Dec. 16 in Brooklyn is now in question. As for Twitter, Punk has been quiet on that front today, save for a retweet that isn't related to this situation. So he's not saying anything outside of what WWE has reported.

And, again, we can't be sure if it's in storyline or out.

We'll be sure to keep you up to date with any further details as they become available.
