It's official.
John Cena will take on Dolph Ziggler at the upcoming WWE TLC pay-per-view (PPV) event scheduled for Sun., Dec. 16, 2012, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. And it has some added stipulations.
It will be a ladder match. What's more, Ziggler's Money in the Bank briefcase with a guaranteed title shot contract inside will be hanging in the balance.
There have been discussions recently of doing the match this way because it would provide WWE the easiest opportunity for Cena to have a shot at The Rock at WrestleMania 29 after he wins the title from CM Punk at Royal Rumble next month. That doesn't mean that's what they're going to do but it would solve a lot of booking issues leading up to the "Road to WrestleMania."
It would also be a nice receipt for Cena, who has the distinction of being the only Money in the Bank winner to attempt to cash in his contract and fail when he lost to Punk back at Raw 1000 in July. There's also a precedent for the Money in the Bank winner to lose the contract before getting the chance to cash it in.
Poor Ziggler. Will WWE go through with this and take his guaranteed title shot?
Here's the updated TLC line up:
- CM Punk vs. Ryback (TLC match for the WWE championship)
- John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler (Ladder match with Ziggler's Money in the Bank contract on the line)
- Big Show vs. Sheamus (Chairs match for the world heavyweight championship)
- Kofi Kingston vs. Wade Barrett (Singles match for the Intercontinental championship)
