Sin Cara reportedly undergoes knee surgery but could be back for WrestleMania 29

Sin Cara's knee injury is reportedly very real, enough so that he recently underwent some sort of knee surgery. The good news, however, is that he could be back in time for WrestleMania 29.

Sin Cara's WWE career has so far been marked with injuries, suspensions, and disappointment. As a Triple H guy, he's received more leeway than most, as his spotty in-ring work combined with his diva reputation in the back would normally sound the death knell for his time with the company.

But he gradually improved, or at least became less of a headache, and after a natural pairing with Rey Mysterio in the reformed tag team division, the outlook on the future was bright.

Then, not so much.

At the TLC pay-per-view (PPV) this past Sunday night (Dec. 16, 2012) in Brooklyn, Sin Cara suffered a knee injury that led to his getting surgery recently, possibly yesterday according to the Wrestling Observer. WWE has yet to acknowledge the injury in any terms other than kayfabe, as he was written off television in an attack by The Shield on SmackDown days ago. But he's out and while the timetable for his return is unclear, it's been said that he could definitely be back for WrestleMania 29.

That obviously leads to what the plan is going forward with Rey Mysterio. Speculation for months now has been that the two were on a collision course and the ultimate showdown would occur on the grandest stage of them all. At this point, it looks like WrestleMania 29 is the time to make that happen. Neither guy can manage to stay healthy for more than a few months at a time and Mysterio is on shaky footing with the company as it stands now.

We'll have to stay tuned but both guys are gone for the foreseeable future.
