With Survivor Series coming up in just over a week, the bigger news is that WrestleMania season is drawing closer and closer. Because of that, WWE is ramping up media for the big event on April 7, 2013, at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Like Triple H chatting with the New York Post in a recent interview where he teased some of the match card, or at least some of the wrestlers scheduled to be on it. Essentially, he all but confirms what was already suspected: The Rock, John Cena, CM Punk, Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, and "The Game" himself will all be wrestling on the card.
"I think this year as we go forward the excitement will be there for WrestleMania being in New York and as we move forward and start to announce things it will get bigger and bigger. Rock has expressed his desire to be at WrestleMania this year and to be the WWE Champion at some point, he guaranteed it. I guarantee Cena is going to be there, Brock Lesnar has been discussing his return being ar WrestleMania. I'm sure as we get closer to the event I'm going to get very excited about maybe throwing the trunks back on and getting back in there for WrestleMania. It's going to be all of the action, all of the main events, everything you would ever expect out of WrestleMania."
Interestingly enough, when he's asked about another attempt to break the streak, he says:
"[Laughs] It's New York, it's WrestleMania, there's going to be 70,000 people going crazy in MetLife stadium, it's going to be tough for me not to want to be involved in that."
It's unclear if he simply means being involved in 'Mania itself, but that answer came after the Undertaker question, so take it how you will.
Either way, it's nice to basically have confirmation of the big list of stars that will be wrestling on the show. What's still up in the air is how those wrestlers will be matched together. For my money, I would prefer the following:
The Rock vs. CM Punk for the WWE championship
John Cena vs. Undertaker
Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar
I would actually prefer a scenario that sees Punk lose the WWE championship to Rock at the Royal Rumble only to enter the Rumble match later in the night and win to go on to challenge for it and win it back at WrestleMania. Undertaker could return at said Rumble to cost Cena the match and have weeks of Cena trying to figure out why leading to another surprise return for "The Deadman" to cast light on why he did what he did. The match would sell because Cena would be considered one of the few guys WWE would seriously consider using to break the Streak. It would create a certain amount of doubt that has been missing for years.
But that's what I would like.
What about you?
