WWE Divas Championship: Eve (c) vs. Kaitlyn vs. Layla
Backstabbing and brawling abroad, three Divas will settle their differences tonight. Kaitlyn and Layla get the title rematches they have been waiting for. Will Eve be able to take home her title despite the odds being stacked against her?
The road to Hell in a Cell
Eve Torres seems to have rubbed every Diva in the locker room the wrong way. After rubbing elbows with former WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Interim Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis, Torres tried to get to another power position in recently-appointed SmackDown GM Booker T's cabinet.
Enter Kaitlyn, who she defeated to win that right. The seeds were planted.
In an episode of Raw leading up to Night of Champions, a Divas battle royal was scheduled to find a contender for then-champion Layla. Kaitlyn was able to take home the win, but the dirt sheets said this was caused by a botch when Eve fell from the apron when she wasn't supposed to.
Kaitlyn still did not get the shot at Layla, as she was attacked from behind at Night of Champions. Eve used her position to work her way into the title shot. She capitalized on this opportunity to become the new queen in the Divas division.
The win was somewhat tainted, as it was discovered that a blonde mystery assailant took Kaitlyn out. It was even more fishy when Aksana found a blonde wig in Eve's things.
Finally, some photographic evidence came out as Teddy Long, tired of Eve trying to undermine his position, showed Kaitlyn the photos on Eve's iPad. One thing lead to another and this is where we end up.
What's at stake?
Eve's position of power could very well rely on her gold. It won't hold much water to fire a champion of your company, but it could very well spell the end of her power trip if she loses the strap here.
Layla stands to further her legacy in the Divas division, having held the title previously and being one of the more notable champions. It would also be sweet redemption to best a long time rival in Eve.
Finally, Kaitlyn will have finally made her presence felt on the big stage. While she has seen screen time, winning the title would elevate her into a new position.
