It all started with Larry King ...
Once Kofi Kingston split from R-Truth after losing the tag team championships, he needed something to do in the mid-card, where he's still a relatively strong act.
So WWE paired him up with Intercontinental Champion The Miz during a segment with Larry King a few weeks ago. That led to a seemingly inconsequential match on Monday Night Raw that garnered a lot more press than it should have thanks to "Careless Kofi" wrecking Miz's face with the Trouble in Paradise.
Once doctors determined the champ was neurologically stable, he didn't remain champ for long, dropping the strap to Kingston this past Wednesday night on Main Event in a hot match that went much smoother than their Raw encounter.
To complete the circle, it was made official on last night's episode of Friday Night SmackDown that the two would rematch at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on Oct. 28 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Here's the updated match card:
- CM Punk vs. Ryback
- Sheamus vs. Big Show
- Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz
- Team Hell No vs. Tag Title Tournament Winner
- Randy Orton vs. Alberto Del Rio
