In a recent post on his Facebook page, JBL addressed his future with WWE and what it could hold:
"Still don't know what the future holds for me and WWE, I just know I am having a great time filling in for King while he recovers. Our youth program in Bermuda starts up this month for this season and I have a lot to do to get ready.
"Not to mention that I have 'Mt Death' waiting on me in January in South America and I have 13 weeks to train starting on Friday. This mountain is a lot harder than Kilimanjaro and going to have to put in a lot of time getting ready.
"So, don't have an answer for all those who ask what my future is, I am having a ball being back. I make fun of Cole incessantly (which I really enjoy btw) but he is as prepared as anyone I have ever seen do a telecast. It's really easy just being able to react knowing he is doing the brunt of the work.
"Not sure what I am doing if anything next week, but would love to be around for Jerry Lawler's return in Memphis if possible."
He's a busy guy and that doesn't lend itself well to traveling with WWE to commentate on Monday and Tuesday nights. That's a real shame, too, because he's been phenomenal working with both Michael Cole and Jim Ross.
In fact, if given a choice, I think at this point, I would prefer JBL and Cole alone, assuming, of course, Ross and Lawler as a team isn't an option (and it's not).
Any Cagesiders agree?
