Despite having the most impressive track record of any of SmackDown’s tag teams, the Usos disappeared from that brand’s scene following the tag team turmoil match which eventually led to Randy Orton & Bray Wyatt becoming #1 contenders and then champions.
Then there’s the matter of Naomi, who hasn’t had a prominent role on Tuesday nights since a mini, post-No Mercy feud with current Women’s champ Alexa Bliss and a quiet role on the blue brand’s Survivor Series team.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required but recommended) that’s because they’ve both been struck by SmackDown’s current plague of ankle issues, with Naomi & Jey dealing with injuries.
Sounds like Naomi’s is of the “minor” variety, as Dave Meltzer reports we’ll be able to Feel the Glow again this weekend. That also likely means her injury didn’t play a role in her criticism of the company on Twitter earlier this week, where she was pointing out the lack of a storyline for her character.
No timetable was given for her brother-in-law, and Uso has posted a couple Instagram videos of his brother Jimmy pushing him around an airport in a wheelchair.
Both last wrestled on Nov. 22 - Jey in the aforementioned multi-team match on SmackDown, Naomi on the Main Event taping which preceded the broadcast.
