Across there many platforms, fans got to see a lot of NXT's play-by-play man Rich Brennan during WWE's SummerSlam week.
That wasn't an accident, and company executives must have been impressed by what Brennan did with the opportunity, because reports from all around the dirt screens indicate that his work on this week's episode of ths how wasn't a one-off...he has been promoted to the lead announcer role on SmackDown.
Brennan takes the chair of the man he followed as the voice of NXT, Tom Phillips. Jerry Lawler and Jimmy Uso appear to be remaining as color commentators on SyFy Network's Thursday night show.
A Rhode Island native who worked extensively as a sportscaster in the Houston, Texas area before signing with WWE last Spring, Brennan's previous wrestling experience was with Booker T's indy promotion Reality of Wrestling.
There's no indication on whether or not he'll move away from the NXT announce role, but considering that it only requires one Thursday night taping a week in general, he should be able to pull the same double duty that Byron Saxton does, working NXT and Raw regularly.
Now can we get Corey Graves, the best announcer on NXT (and probably in the company), a promotion?
