WWE SmackDown returns to SyFy this coming Friday night (July 18, 2014) from Fayetteville, North Carolina, but the show was taped, as usual, on Tuesday night. That means full spoilers are readily available if you're the impatient type who doesn't want to wait a couple days for the payoff.
Unwrap that present early:
- Dean Ambrose opened the show with a promo. He wanted revenge for the beat down at Raw and a match was booked against Kane for the main event.
- Alberto Del Rio def. Kofi Kingston in a match between two Intercontinental championship battle royal participants. Del Rio has been booked fairly strong for a number of weeks now but no one has seemed to notice.
- Alicia Fox vs. Eva Marie never happened because Nikki Bella was guest referee and the two heels turned on her and beat her down.
- Chris Jericho def. Luke Harper via disqualification when Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan interfered. Long, good match. The Usos ran in to make the save while the heels were getting the beat down.
- Yet another Rusev & Lana confrontation with Jack Swagger & Zeb Colter.
- Sheamus & Dolph Ziggler def. The Miz & Fandango in your typical match.
- AJ Lee & Paige def. Summer Rae & Layla because they're just the best of friends now, you know?
- Dean Ambrose def. Kane via disqualification after Seth Rollins interfered. After the match, the heels put it on Ambrose, with both guys hitting their finish. Finally, Roman Reigns ran in.
That was the show, Cagesiders. Your thoughts?
