WWE SmackDown spoilers (May 9, 2014): Extreme Rules fallout

Gallo Images

WWE SmackDown returns to SyFy this coming Friday night (May 9, 2014) from Buffalo, New York, but the show was taped, as usual, on Tuesday night. That means full spoilers are readily available if you're the impatient type who doesn't want to wait a couple days for the payoff.

Unwrap that present early:

- Sheamus def. Dean Ambrose proper in a singles match. Again, no Shield interference, which is just so good to see. Just a Brogue Kick and a pin, 1-2-3. This does raise the question why they promoted "Sheamus defends the title" instead of "Ambrose gets his rematch" but that's neither here nor there.

- Bad News Barrett & Cesaro def. Big E & Rob Van Dam with Paul Heyman on commentary, presumably talking about some client of his beating some streak at some big event recently. The reports on this match were not favorable, so we'll see.

- Rusev def. Kofi Kingston in a match that you've seen already.

- Fandango & Layla def. Santino Marella & Emma in a short match. Layla got the pin on Emma after Fandango caused a distraction. Yet again, you've seen this already.

- Roman Reigns def. Mark Henry in basically the same match these two had the last time they wrestled. That's not to say it won't be worth the time, but again, you've seen this already.

- Los Matadores & El Torito def. 3MB in a comedy match. Yep, you've seen this already too.

- Batista def. Seth Rollins via count out after a decent match. The finish saw Rollins do a dive to the outside, miss, and knock himself out on the announce table, leading to the 10 count. Don't worry, it's kayfabe. Batista put a beating on him after the match anyway because he's a heel. No save from The Shield.

- Wyatt Family def. John Cena & The Usos in the main event. Luke Harper got the pin on one of the Uso brothers in a typical TV match. Of note, Cena doesn't get involved much here.

That's the show, folks. Your thoughts?
