WWE SmackDown returns to SyFy this coming Friday night (Jan. 2, 2015) from Norfolk, Virginia but the show was taped, as usual, on Tuesday night. That means full spoilers are readily available if you're the impatient type who doesn't want to wait a couple days for the payoff.
Unwrap that present early:
- Edge & Christian were back to start the show to apologize for what happened on Raw. Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury showed up to say they would oversee the show. E&C booked the show.
- Bray Wyatt def. Erick Rowan with Sister Abigail. He cut a promo on Dean Ambrose after. Should be interesting to see how this match is handled on the broadcast.
- Big Show def. Ryback via count out thanks to a distraction from the Russian flag, which dropped down long enough for Show to hit the KO punch. That's quite the finish for a babyface they're pushing so hard.
- Masters of the WWE Universe def. Los Matadores in a typical tag team match. Natalya and Tyson Kidd had issue after.
- Dean Ambrose vs. Curtis Axel never happened. Instead, Ambrose beat him up and cut a promo on Bray Wyatt.
- The Ascension def. Local Talent. My sincere hope is Benny Camer and Stan Stansky have made their triumphant return.
- The Usos & R-Truth def. Goldust & Stardust & Adam Rose in a "let's just put people in a six-man" match.
- Roman Reigns def. Rusev via disqualification when Big Show ran in and attacked Reigns. They repeated the spot with the announcers table with the roles reversed this time.
That's the show, folks. Your thoughts?
