Signs point to Finn Bálor’s first main roster feud being against Chris Jericho

This is far from set in stone, but it does follow a few patterns WWE has used in the past.

Finn Bálor, who was drafted to Raw from NXT last week and will likely debut on USA Network tonight (July 25) in some form or fashion, is scheduled to work a number of international house show dates with Chris Jericho over the next couple of months.

WWE returns to the Phillipines for the first time since 2009 on September 9, and Finn is scheduled to work that show opposite Y2J. They’re also making a South American swing in early October, and Bálor vs. Jericho is advertised for the first night in Santiago, Chile on October 6.

The duo worked together last Summer while the Irishman was still establishing himself in the company. Jericho was his opponent in Tokyo on July 3, 2015 - the night before he won the NXT title from Kevin Owens.

It’s also become standard operating procedure for incoming acts to work a program with the veteran Canadian. AJ Styles did it to mixed reviews earlier this year, and Jericho worked with Nakamura on the 2016 mini-tour of Japan.

If this feud happens on television, it seems likely Finn will debut as and remain a babyface - at least for a while. WWE just turned the Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla in the Styles program, and his character is connecting much better as a rudo.

Of course, Bálor could initially work as a fan favorite, since the company is likely expecting a positive reaction to him from crowds, and then possibly turn him later, a la Styles.

Time will tell.

What do you think of the possibility Finn’s main roster intro will be with Y2J?
