Freed from competing against the National Football League for the first time in months, WWE was looking for another good number this week for the first Raw of 2016.
Vince McMahon continued to be a draw, as the ratings were up slightly for the second week in a row. Last week attracted 3.536 million viewers, and the show that one set up for a WWE championship main event with the Chairman as special guest referee drew 3.575 million. An okay number, to be sure, but probably not what they were hoping for.
Not everyone stuck around for that final match, either, which set-up an interesting Royal Rumble stipulation for Roman Reigns, but the hourly breakdown doesn't make that drop look too bad.
Hour one: 3.707 million
Hour two: 3.516 million
Hour three: 3.503 million
Next week isn't promising Vince, but will bring Brock Lesnar and a probable return from John Cena, as well as Reigns response to the news he'll be defending his belt in the Rumble match. It also features a big pigskin competitor, however, with Alabama and Clemson battling in the college football championship game, coverage of which kicks off an hour before Raw starts, with the game itself starting at 8:30PM Eastern.
How will WWE fare? We'll let you know.
