Daniel Bryan set for WWE Raw tonight

UPDATE: WWE has confirmed Bryan will be on the show tonight.

With only two shows left until SummerSlam, John Cena & Sheamus on the shelf with injuries and Brock Lesnar & The Undertaker not scheduled to appear, WWE might just flood a show rumored to be "angle-heavy" with lots of Superstars we haven't seen recently.

A couple of those would be on Raw to set-up matches that have already been announced for the next pay-per-view (PPV) on Sunday, August 23. Dolph Ziggler is expected to face Rusev in Brooklyn, and Intercontinental champion Ryback has already been announced for a Triple Threat against Big Show & The Miz that was originally scheduled for Battleground before The Big Guy suffered a knee injury.

If PWInsider's report is correct, the man who was IC champ before his buddy The Ryback, Daniel Bryan, will also be making an appearance on tonight's show. Raw is in DB's home state of Washington, where a Seattle crowd famously hijacked a segment in early 2014 to fuel his grassroots run to the WrestleMania main event. Even if he is likely only there to promote his book and try to salvage some ratings points for Tough Enough, it should please audiences in Everett and at home.

The Beard's presence is noteworthy because WWE probably wouldn't have flown him in from where Tough Enough's will film in Florida tomorrow unless they planned to use him in some capacity on tonight's show.

So expect a little some YES-ing, and some shilling, tonight.

But who knows, maybe Bryan's doctors convinced WWE's doctors and we could get an even bigger surprise?
