Because of the Fourth of July holiday, ratings for this past Monday night's episode of Raw were delayed for a day. That meant WWE would have to wait a little longer to see if Brock Lesnar destroying a Cadillac (and nearly injuring a fan in the process), along with a hot as hell John Cena vs. Cesaro US title match would get the promotion's flagship program out of its recent slump.
It did.
Just not by much.
Raw averaged 3.64 million viewers this week, up from the 3.46 million viewers the show drew last week. The hourly breakdown reveals the show maintained viewership all throughout the evening:
Hour one: 3.63 million
Hour two: 3.68 million
Hour three: 3.61 million
At this time last year, Raw was consistently drawing over four million viewers. Not even Lesnar is making much of a difference at this point.
