WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JULY 6
BaconStrips here. Let's do this.
WWE Signature and a recap of last week's Raw.
Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman come out to start this show off. The "Suplex City" chants ring loud.
Heyman introduces himself as the advocate of the mayor of Suplex City: BROOOOCK LESNAR!!!!!
He talks about how The Authority still thinks that Lesnar is in Japan, and that a scoundrel like Seth Rollins can steal the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Bad news for Rollins: Lesnar is the GOD OF VIOLENT RETRIBUTION!!!
It's simple: Seth Rollins and any of his goons will be decimated by Brock Lesnar. Heyman provides evidence by bringing up the conquering of Undertaker, John Cena, and Roman Reigns.
Here's the difference: Lesnar did not disrespect any of those three. However, Lesnar harbors quite a bit of disrespect for Seth Rollins, and Rollins provoked The Beast, who is dying to get his revenge.
Heyman says that he only has one job: to sell us on the massacre of Seth Rollins at Battleground when Lesnar takes his championship back.
That is a couple weeks away. The beatings and suplexes, on the other hand, begin TONIGHT IN THE CITY HALL OF SUPLEX CITY, BI!!!
Heyman tells us that Rollins is the building tonight, and a loud "Suplex City" chant starts once again. Lesnar ain't going anywhere until he gets his hands on Seth Rollins
Now for the interesting stuff: Kane isn't here tonight as he's still in "Hawaii." As for J&J Security, they've been on an epic road trip.
Big Show vs Ryback
The Miz is sitting ringside with a mic and plays the role of the annoying mark.
This match was slow and fat. Big Show gets the win by DQ after Miz attacks him as he covers Ryback after a chokeslam/elbow combo.
Big Show def Ryback by DQ
After the match, Miz acts like himself until he's cornered by Show and Ryback. He begs for his life before being manually dismembered by Show and Ryback. After the destruction of Miz, Ryback Meat Hooks Show.
The Adventures of J&J Security start with a stop at Wrigley Field, called a huge dump by the duo.
Brie Bella vs Paige
Decent match that saw Brie get the win with a Bella Buster after a bunch of distractions from Team Bella.
Brie Bella def Paige
After the match, Alicia Fox and Nikki Bella drop Paige with a successive scissors kick and Rack Attack.
Roman Reigns vs Sheamus
Although not as good as last week's match, this was a pretty good and physical hoss fight. The end comes when Bray Wyatt comes out. Reigns attacks Wyatt and rips off a wig from the person. The real Bray Wyatt appears and does the "anyone but you" schtick. Sheamus wins by count-out.
Sheamus def Roman Reigns by count-out
After the match, Randy Orton returns, brawls with Sheamus, and RKOs him.
Backstage, Triple H is talking on the phone when Seth Rollins and J&J Security come in. J&J are excused, and Daddy Trips talks to Rollins about the Lesnar situation. Rollins wants advice from Trips, and the advice is for Rollins to walk out of Battleground as champion. As for tonight, Rollins should let Lesnar stew in his anger tonight. However, he has an idea: call out Brock Lesnar and show him why Seth Rollins is THE MAN!
Rusev and Summer Rae are in the ring, and welcome to Jerry Springer.
The crowd chants "USA", and Rusev starts talking about Summer Rae and how she apologized on SmackDown. Rusev takes a moment and apologizes as well. A loud "we want Lana" chant starts, and Rusev replies that he gave us Summer.
Rusev says that he won't apologize for spending a worthless year with Lana, among other things. He knocks Dolph Ziggler, saying that he isn't on Rusev's level. Another "USA" chant starts, and Summer Rae takes the mic and tells the crowd that they should be respecting Rusev.
At this moment, Dolph Ziggler and Lana comes out.
Ziggler asks if Rusev's brain is broken due to him forgetting that it was Lana who gave him all his opportunity. Now, she's gone, and Ziggler has found her. The two smooch, and a pissing match starts in the ring. Eventually, Lana and Summer ditch their heels and square off. However, Rusev attacks Ziggler with his crutch, and finishes him off with DAT KICK with the walking boot.
Rusev sheds the boot and reveals that the foot is healed. He commands Summer to ditch Lana, and Rusev beats Ziggler down some more, eventually forcing the crutch into Ziggler's throat.
Bo Dallas vs Dean Ambrose
Before the match, he says that we just saw a horrible thing happen to Dolph Ziggler. Remember kids, bad things happen to bad people. Good things happen to good people like Bo Dallas. All you have to do is BOLIEVE!!
Short and average match that sees Ambrose get the win with Dirty Deeds. I will say that Bo Dallas was super over here.
Dean Ambrose def Bo Dallas
We continue The Adventures of J&J Security. This time, we follow them as they combat Chicago traffic in a Cadillac with camouflage on it...MERICA!
King Barrett vs R-Truth
Yeah, it's this again. This was just an average match that was longer than it had any business being. Barrett wins after a massive Bullhammer to Truth.
R-Truth def King Barrett
Seth Rollins comes out, and J&J follow in their new Cadillac. They are armed with ax handles.
Rollins says that The Authority made Rollins vs Brock Lesnar because they want to prove that he is the undisputed future of WWE, a fact that he's proved multiple times such as when he reunited The Authority and took down The Beast. At Battleground, he's gonna burn Suplex City to the ground when he beats The Beast.
Seth Rollins turns his attention toward Lesnar and asks if he's the beast that we think that he is, or if he's just Paul Heyman's bitch.
Rollins waits, and a pissed-off Lesnar comes out and approaches the ring. He backs away after a few moments and calls over Paul Heyman, who rolls a large crate over. Inside are some implements, including a couple axes. He takes the axes, turns his attention toward the car, and destroys the abomination.
After a while, J&J rush Lesnar, but Lesnar is too much. He locks Jamie Noble in a Kimura Lock and breaks his arms, and then he suplexes Joey Mercury onto the car. After dispatching the peons, Lesnar laughs and looks at his prey in the ring. Lesnar enters the ring, and Rollins runs out of the Allstate Arena.
Lucha Dragons vs The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E)
The Primetime Players are on commentary. Someone in WWE must have discovered the secret of reincarnation after Brock Lesnar murdered The New Day in Japan.
This was a pretty fun match as it usually is. Kalisto played the face-in-peril well, and Sin Cara got the hot tag. There was a lot of high risk involved here, and it led to the Lucha Dragons' downfall during a double suicide dive. Kalisto ran into a suplex, and Sin Cara ran into the barricade. Sin Cara gets hit with the double team finisher for a New Day win.
The New Day def Lucha Dragons
John Cena vs Cesaro (United States Championship)
Before the match, Cena thanks the crowd for their romantic rendition of "John Cena Sucks" before talking about Kevin Owens losing the NXT Championship. Now, Cena can really say that the champ is here.
And tonight, we ARE having a championship match tonight. Tonight's participant...err wait a moment, Kevin Owens comes out (the NXT minitron is gone, he's officially on the main roster).
He comes out spitting fire on the mic. He's sick of the open challenges, and he NEEDS the US Title so we can never hear any more of Cena's stupid crap.
OWENS IS ACCEPTING THE CHALLENGE, and IT'S ON!!!
Wait a minute, now Cesaro comes out. He says that no one wants to hear Owens whine, and Cesaro is the one who deserves the title shot due to Owens breaking Cesaro's sharpshooter last week. Cesaro tells Owens to get out, and Owens surprisingly obliges.
I really don't think these two can do anything wrong against each other. Last week's match was a complete barnburner, but this one definitely topped it. This was a 30 minute match that was grueling, physical, and completely excellent. Both men hit the other with everything except the kitchen sink (strikes, suplexes, submissions, and finishers), but they kept on coming back for more. The end did come when Cena hit Cesaro with a Super AA from the top rope for the win.
John Cena def Cesaro.
What a freaking match. Afterward, Kevin Owens tried to ambush Cena, but ate an AA for his troubles. John Cena stands tall to end.
