The Ascension actually got a minute or two to cut a promo before their squash match during last night's episode of Monday Night Raw in Corpus Christi, Texas. They used that time to say the following:
Viktor: "Throughout the history of WWE there have been many so called dominant tag teams. Just like Ax and Smash of Demolition."
Konnor: "We'll destroy Demolition."
Viktor: Or there's the Road Warriors."
Konnor: "We'll throw them right off the road. Hey yo Vik, what's the old saying?"
Viktor: "Ooooohhh, what a rush."
Konnor: "More like, ooooohhh, what a joke."
Viktor: "We are The Ascension."
Konnor: "Welcome to the wasteland."
Immediately, the commentary team jumped on them:
JBL: "These guys couldn't carry the Road Warrior's bags."
Booker T: "No disrespect, but I don't know if these guys are just stupid or that confident in their ability. They're going to get a chance to prove it."
Lance Storm took exception to the promo due to the fact that one half of the Road Warriors, Hawk, died in 2003. Storm made his feelings on the matter clear with a personal protest he spoke of on his Twitter:
Nothing like making fun of a guy who has passed away. #BadTaste #RAW

#RAW has seriously pissed me off #Respect #RIPHawk

May not mean much to others but I'm turning #RAW #RAWCorpusChristi off! #Respect #RIP #Hawk

"@RachaelEllering: @LanceStorm agree..." I turned it off this week. My personal protest.

To be clear because people seem clueless. The Ascension doing a Road Warrior gimmick is not offensive to me. "What a Rush...What a Joke" is

"@PiledriverPress: @LanceStorm isnt it about getting heat or is that to far? (Honest Question)!" Get heat on the 3 guys who are alive
— Lance Storm (@LanceStorm) January 6, 2015
Also to be clear I know and like both guys in the Ascension. It's not about them or tag team wrestling.

Mick Foley also wasn't a fan:
But disrespecting Road Warrior Hawk made me throw up in my mouth a little. #RAW
