WWE Raw results, live blog (July 28, 2014): John Cena returns

WWE Monday Night Raw comes waltzing back into our lives tonight (July 28, 2014) from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, featuring all the latest build to the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for next month in Los Angeles.

Advertised for tonight: John Cena returns to address his WWE world heavyweight title defense against Brock Lesnar, Brie Bella has been summoned by Stephanie McMahon, and much, much more.

WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JULY 28

Rex here, let's mark out with our snark out.

John Cena is kicking Raw off after an extended replay of the events of last week.

Cena says that what happened with Lesnar was the last thing who could ever hope for.

He says the reaction is divided because a large chunk of the audience wants to see Lesnar beat the hell out of him.

The crowd agrees.

He starts pumping up Lesnar as the unstoppable monster.

"Forty men have been champions, one man has beaten the Streak"

Cena says he is going to get his ass kicked at SummerSlam, he knows this.  He feeds the crowd with it.

He says despite that he is going to beat Lesnar though just like he did in 2012.

He says that the mercenary that is Lesnar can't get a hold of the titles.

Out comes Heyman now.

His client will beat Cena at SummerSlam and take away the WWEWHC.

He applauds Cena for his words as he is about to be a victim.

Cena has never been victimized and at SummerSlam he will- just like the Undertaker.

No one has heard from Taker and he continues to rub salt in the wound.

He turns it to Cena now and that after SummerSlam he will be beaten, victimized, and conquered.

Cena wants to talk about passion.  Something he even knows Heyman has. They share that.

Wrestling is all that Cena has- it's his life.

Lesnar has no passion for anything but himself.

Cena gets extremely emotional and says that Lesnar may beat him at SummerSlam, but he is going to have to beat ever last breath out of him.

Cesaro out now.

Even though they have gone seperate ways, he won't let his friend be insulted.

Cena isn't a wrestler, he is a big hulking billboard.

He says you can't wrestle in sneakers, he just can't wrestle.

He challenges him to a match now as Cena starts to head up the ring.

Cena says it will be his honor to wrestle circles around Cesaro.

John Cena vs Cesaro

Result: Cena wins by pinfall

Highlights:

• Due to some technical errors I missed the first couple of minutes.
• Cena with the Frakensteiner but Cesaro escapes at two and nails Cena with an elbow.  Cesaro starts to grind down Cena, but Cena fights out and starts brawling.  Cena goes for the bulldog but Cesaro counters and flings him across the ring as we head to break.
• Back from break and Cena is hitting the shoulder tackles but as he tries to follow up, Cesaro lays him out.  Cesaro taunts him with the you can't see me gesture and readies the swing.  Cena counters the attempt though by doing a sit up and turning it into a sunset flip.  Cena then with a powerbomb and he goes up top, but Cesaro crotches him then follows up with a kick to the face.
• Cesaro with the deadlift superplex.  Cesaro with a power slam and then the giant swing.  After some swing he locks in a reverse clover leaf.  Cena escapes and hits a slam.
• The two start trading counters and Cena gets the advantage.  He goes up for an AA of the turnbuckle but Cesaro counters and hits a splash.  Cena rolls through on it though and picks Cesaro up.  He goes for the AA but Cesaro lands on his feet and then kicks Cena's arm when he goes for a clothesline.  Swiss Death!  Only gets the nearfall though.
• Cesaro goes for the Neutralizer but Cena back body drops him though Cesaro lands on his feet.  They trade big boots and Cesaro goes up top.  Cena meets him up there and hits the AA off the turnbuckle for the pinfall.

Trips and Steph in the back.  She is upset about her jail experience and she can't go back.  She can't let their daughter get the same look in her eyes again.

Orton comes in to interrupt the moment.  He is upset that they didn't follow the original plan.  He demands a change.

HHH says he can make the change, but he won't because Reigns is still in the picture.  If he wants a shot at the title again, he will have to take out Reigns.

Paige out now.  She says that she made a mistake last week and would never do such a thing again.

Out comes AJ.

AJ calls her out on her lie.  She says she gets it though, but she shouldn't bullshit.

Paige says its the truth and if she doesn't believe it then I guess she is crazy.

Uh oh.

Paige apologizes for "calling her that".

AJ says it's fine, mistake happen.  She then attack Paige and sends her to the outside.  Paige is able to break free and decides to retreat while shouting- 'I thought we were friends"

HHH and Steph out to the ring now.

HHH goes after the crowd for making fun of his wife.

He then says all of the charges have been dropped except for the assault and battery on Brie.

They want to fix the situation and ask for Brie to come out.

Out comes Jericho.

He starts singing the theme song from cops with the crowd.

HHH does a hysterical fake laugh and goes after Jericho.

They go back and forth as Jericho throws in some jabs at Stephanie.

HHH wants to know what the whole point is?

Jericho wants Wyatt.

He won't get him tonight.  That will happen at SummerSlam, but tonight he gets Seth Rollins (who proceeds to appear and nail Jericho with the briefcase from behind).

Dolph Ziggler and the Usos vs the Miz and Rybaxel

Result: Ziggler and the Usos win by pinfall

Highlights:

• Ziggler and Miz start things off, but Miz quickly escapes to protect his face.  Ryback tags in and slams Ziggler a couple of time.  Axel tags in and beats on Ziggler before sending him out.
• Uso tags in and lays out Axel with some kicks and a Rikishi splash.  Woods, Big E, and Kingston are watching the match in the back.
• A brawl on the outside is about to erupt as they all square up as we head to break.
• Back from break and everyone is exchanging quick until Ziggler gets control and clears house of Axel and Miz.  He nails Ryback with a dropkick and a swinging neckbreaker.  He goes for the Fameasser but Ryback counters into a Shellshock attempt.  Ziggler counters this into a DDT.
• Miz breaks up the pinfall attempt as everyone swarms the ring again.  Usos send Axel to the outside and one of them with a big suicide dive.  Other Uso goes to do that to Miz but Miz counters and puts the Uso into the rope.  Ziggler tries to attack Miz, but Ryback attacks him from behind.  Ryback with a powerbomb attempt but Ziggler escapes and hits the Zig Zag for the win.

R-Truth is out when out comes BO!

Bo says that Truth can't compare to Bo's undefeated streak.

He talks of all of the losses Truth has had in his career.  Someday he can be victorious if he justs Bo-lieve.

Bo Dallas vs R-Truth

Result: Truth wins by pinfall

Highlights:

• They lock up and Truth hits a roll up for the win.

Rusev makes fun of US for our choice in leaders.  She makes fun of Obama and then trashes Bush a bit before Swagger and Colter decide to interrupt them.

Colter talks up the Stars and Stripes meaning to the United States.  Lots more patriotic pep talk before Swagger charges in.

Swagger with the early advantage but Rusev takes charge.  Rusev with some kicks and slam when Lana calls for the Accolade.  Swagger is able to recover though and goes for the ankle lock.  Rusev escape the attempt but Swagger with a big boot send him out.

Lana decides it is best to retreat for now.

Sandow comes out in an astronaut costume and talks about Houston having a problem.  The thousands of people like the ones in the arena tonight.

Out comes Rose and the Express.

Rose talks quickly and Sandow attacks.  They brawl quickly before the match starts.

Adam Rose vs Damien Sandow

Result: Rose wins by pinfall

Highlights:

• Sandow throws a punch and Rose counters with the Party Foul for the win.

As Reigns makes his way through the crowd, Orton attack him just before Reigns gets to the barrier.  Orton with a flurry but Reigns comes firing back.  He tosses Orton over the barrier and then uses the steps to launch himself for a Superman Punch to Kane.

More strikes to Orton then Kane attack from behind.  They make it to the ring and Reigns comes back with a Samoan Drop.  Punches to Kane when Orton attacks from behind.  Reigns fights back with a Superman Punch but he turns right into a chokeslam from Kane.

Kane stares at Orton after the chokeslam and then leaves to the back.

Orton recovers and starts to beat down Reigns.  He tangles Reigns up in the ropes and hits a flurry of kicks before chucking him to the floor.

Orton just lays on the beatdown around the ring and into the barrier.  He slams Reigns over the barrier and then taunts him.  He slams him onto the steps and then clears the table.  When he is doing so he gently handed JBL his iPAD.

He slams Reigns head into the steps as he says that he cost him the title before setting him up on the table.  Orton licks his lips and then picks Rreigns up and RKOs him onto the table.  It doesn't break so he decides to do it again.  It broke this time.

Orton yells at him some more before posing.

Fandango vs Diego

Result: Diego wins by pinfall

Highlights:

• Diego comes out with El Torito, Layla, and Summer
• Some stuff happened.  No much of note really as Diego quickly got the win off a distraction from Diego's posse.

Steph knocks on a lockerroom door and out comes Nikki.

Steph was looking for Brie and she is informed she isn't here yet.  Brie will have a response though and Nikki tells Steph that its not often people like her have to eat a plate of crap.  She hopes Steph enjoys the taste.

Stardust and Goldust with a chalkboard.  Star is ranting about finding the cosmic key.

Goldie says he knows and distracts him and writes on the board: "They have it"

He then says that RhodesDust will soon have the key.

Natalya and Naomi vs Cameron and Alicia

Result: Natalya and Naomi win by pinfall

Highlights:

• Nattie and Alicia start things off.  The scuffle briefly before tagging in their partners.
• Naomi opens up with strikes and a hurricarana.  Cameron recovers and takes control with a series of strikes and slams.
• Naomi counters a Cameron slam to get the pinfall.

Seth Rollins vs Chris Jericho

Result: Jericho wins by DQ

Highlights:

• Things go to the outside quickly as they brawl.  Jericho takes control on the outside with some chops but Rollins counters with a slam.  Rollins to the ring and he goes for a suicide dive, but Jericho counters with a right hand.  Jericho with a slam and a splash in the corner before hitting an enziguiri.  Jericho grinds Rollins into the rope.
• Rollins escape and lays out Jericho with a dropkick.  The two exchange strikes as Jericho hits a springboard dropkick that sends us to break.
• Back from break and Rollins is laying into Jericho with a flurry of strikes.  Jericho makes a comeback and goes up top but Rollins dodges.  Rollins with the running neckbreaker for a nearfall.  Jericho fires back with some chopes and whips Rollins.  He charges in, but Rollins counters with an STO into the turnbuckle.
• Rollins goes up top but Jericho recovers and meets him up top.  After a struggle, Jericho hits a back body drop and then a splash for a nearfall.  The two are exchanging counters and strikes left and right when Jericho goes for the lion tamer.  Rollins gets to the rope though before he can get turned over.  He then uses the ropes to flip onto his feet and hit an enziguiri.
• Rollins tries to follow up but Jericho gets nailed with a Code Breaker.  Right then the Wyatt cue hits and they appear in the ring and beat Jericho down.

Steph and Brie out.

Steph wants to make a deal.

They eventually reach an agreement on Brie returning to WWE and she will drop the charges.

Brie though wants one more thing- a match at SummerSlam.

Against Stephanie.

Steph tries to offer her a ton of other things.  Brie says forget it, she'll se her in court.

Stephanie starts having a breakdown.  Brie taunts her with it again.

Stephanie agrees and then slaps the ever living hell out of Brie and promises to make Brie her bitch at SummerSlam.

Stephanie has to be dragged off by HHH and the road agents as she continues to yell and threaten Brie.
