Cesaro worked a match against Kofi Kingston on tonight's (June 30, 2014) episode of Monday Night Raw in Hartford, Connecticut, and during the course of said match he suffered an injury to his eye.
WWE.com reported it a short time ago and gave an update on the situation:
"We did some specialized testing and staining of the eye which showed he did have a scratch on the right side of the eye, which is called the sclera and not on the cornea, which is the clear part of the eye," said Amann. "We're going to keep his eye patched for the next 24-48 hours, use some artificial tears and re-evaluate him tomorrow prior to his match [against Dolph Ziggler on WWE Main Event]."
It had been announced that Cesaro would work a singles match opposite Dolph Ziggler on tomorrow night's episode of Main Event but that's obviously in jeopardy if he's forced to wear an eye patch. Then again, Naomi wrestled with one a number of times a couple months ago.
The good news is that it doesn't appear to be serious and he won't miss any significant time, unlike Bad News Barrett, who will be out for a number of months. His loss could be Cesaro's gain, in fact, with the announcement that Cesaro will be in the Intercontinental championship battle royal at Battleground on Sun., July 20, 2014, in Tampa, Florida.
Thankfully, this eye injury won't affect that.
