State of the WWE world heavyweight championship to be addressed on Raw next week

Let the speculation begin.

During tonight's (Tues., May 13, 2014) episode of Main Event in Greensboro, North Carolina, WWE announced it would address the state of the WWE world heavyweight championship title on next week's episode of Monday Night Raw following Daniel Bryan's announcement on last night's show that he will undergo neck surgery this coming Thursday (get all the latest details on his injury here).

This has already led to speculation that a decision has been made to strip Bryan of the title.

It's entirely possible that's what happens and, in fact, there's an argument to be made that it's the right call even if Bryan's neck surgery goes as well as it possibly could and he only misses the reported six-to-eight weeks he's currently expected to.

It's also possible WWE is simply seeking to capitalize on a major story with early promotion of a major announcement concerning its top title and there are no plans to strip Bryan at all and that will be made clear next Monday.

Or, they're making the announcement now that another announcement will come next week when they know the full extent of the situation after Bryan's surgery on Thursday.

Either way, we'll know more when WWE goes rolling through the O2 Arena in London, England, next Monday night.
