Although it's almost certainly kayfabe, or, at the very least, certainly not anything that's going to force him to miss any time, WWE.com is now reporting that CM Punk suffered a myriad of injuries at the hands of Brock Lesnar during last night's (July 15, 2013) episode of Monday Night Raw at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York.
From the report:
In what sounds more like an injury report from a car crash than a fistfight, medical officials have told WWE.com that Punk suffered whiplash and strained ligaments in his left knee and right ankle. Punk's ribs are also bruised, potentially broken, as a result of the attack.
Here's video of the beatdown:
Punk is undoubtedly banged up, what with his having gone through that brutal ladder match at Money in the Bank -- one that resulted in his needing 13 staples to close a massive gash in his head -- one night before a burly beast like Lesnar was throwing him around like a rag doll.
That's not to say Brock was careless but he definitely didn't seem to be holding anything back.
Still, don't expect Punk to miss any time and he certainly won't be missing their match at the SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Aug. 18 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. After all, this program is one Punk can really sink his teeth into with Paul Heyman on the opposite side and a match against a strong worker like Lesnar awaiting him.
Plus, they have to compete with John Cena and Daniel Bryan for that main event spot.
