If you're one of those mean old marks who likes to curse the current professional wrestling landscape and complain that Monday Night Raw just isn't what it used to be, WWE has some good news for you.
Next week's edition of the show, emanating from the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York, will be kicking it "Old School" style.
Here are a couple promo videos the promotion has released to announce as much:
These shows are always fun because WWE typically goes all out for them. That doesn't just mean bringing back a bunch of stars from yesteryear, though you should definitely expect that, but the entire set reverts back to the early 90s. The entrance ramp gets the gigantic "RAW" letters treatment, the ring posts are re-done with the old WWF logo, and the color scheme goes back to the family-friendly version of so long ago.
Ah, the good old days.
Another reason to look forward to this is the aforementioned return of many superstars from the past. The last time WWE did a show like this for Raw, here's who all showed up:
Jimmy Snuka
Bob Orton
IRS
Tito Santana
Sgt. Slaughter
Hacksaw Jim Duggan
Brooklyn Brawler
Chavo Classic
Mean Gene Okerlund
Howard Finkel
Mae Young
Gerald Brisco
Ted DiBiase
Slick
Tatanka
Tony Atlas
Arn Anderson
Ron Simmons
Dusty Rhodes
George Steele
Jim Ross
Iron Sheik
Nikolai Volkoff
There's already been speculation that this will be the week Undertaker finally makes his official return to television. The setting would fit perfectly, seeing as Undertaker is the only member of the roster left who appeared on the very first episode of Monday Night Raw all the way back in January of 1993. Plus, CM Punk has now lost out on his chance to main event WrestleMania 29 against The Rock, while also cutting an inspired promo about being god in pro wrestling. All this without mentioning WWE pushing Undertaker hard on all its various platforms.
It's all such an obvious set up for his return that we can't help but tune in to find out. And so we will.
You Cagesiders looking forward to "Old School" Raw next week?
