During tonight's (Dec. 9, 2013) episode of Monday Night Raw at the KeyArena in Seattle, Washington, Alberto Del Rio worked a match against Sin Cara in between the various Slammy Awards that were being handed out to everyone but him.
Not only did he come up bupkis at the Slammys, he also suffered a concussion.
From a WWE.com report:
After speaking with Del Rio following his match, it was determined that he suffered the injury as a result of a top-rope sunset flip powerbomb. Following some initial testing, Dr. Amann diagnosed Del Rio with a concussion and will be re-evaluating him tomorrow, as well as administering an ImPACT test to determine a timetable for the former World Heavyweight Champion's recovery.
Here's the video of the match, with the aforementioned spot occurring at the 2:09 mark:
The good news, if you can call it that, is that Del Rio isn't currently working an important program after his brief feud with John Cena saw him lose the world heavyweight championship and move down to doing jobs for Sin Cara.
We'll see if this injury affects Cara's renewed push.
