WWE Raw ratings for New Year's Eve show hold up well

"Monday Night Raw" may have taken plenty of ratings hits over the past few months but the taped New Year's Eve show held up pretty well and the future looks bright.

Well, this is a pleasant surprise for Vinny Mac and company.

Monday Night Raw a couple days ago aired on New Year's Eve on USA and while holiday shows have been doing poorly as of late, this one actually managed to hold up rather well.

The show did a 2.4 rating and averaged 3.55 million viewers for the full three hours. Here's the hourly breakdown, which shows the usual pattern but not nearly as bad as it has been of late:

Hour one: 3.40 million viewers
Hour two: 3.64 million viewers
Hour three: 3.61 million viewers

As has been noted many times here on the site, things are about to heat up in a big way. WWE reportedly has a major angle planned for next Monday night in anticipation of getting crushed by the BCS National Championship Game between Notre Dame and Alabama and after that they basically get Monday to themselves.

And the "Road to WrestleMania" really kicks into gear.
