Monday Night Raw was taped tonight (Sat., Dec. 29, 2012) in Washington D.C. for the episode scheduled to air in just a couple days on New Year's Eve and as has become the custom, the company website has reported a title switch that took place on the show.
That title switch is Wade Barrett winning the Intercontinental title from Kofi Kingston. From WWE.com:
The victory comes just days after Barrett pinned the acrobatic former champion during a Six-Man Tag Team Match on SmackDown. In fact, the British Superstar seemed to have Kingston's number during their tense rivalry over the past few weeks, but it was Kofi who prevailed when the two men met with the Intercontinental Championship on the line at WWE TLC. Although he had fallen victim to Barrett's Bull Hammer on more than one occasion, the resourceful Kingston always retained his title when the stakes were high - that is, until tonight.
It's an interesting decision to do the switch like this, especially considering Barrett is a guy WWE has been rumored to be high on for some time now. This could simply be a ploy for ratings too, believe it or not, as it's been shown that having a title change and giving it away actually leads to increased viewers because fans want to see how it happened.
You can find out how this one went down next week on Raw.
In the meantime, what are your thoughts on this?
