WrestleMania 29 match preview: Wade Barrett vs. The Miz

What happens when two wrestlers that the WWE loves have nothing to do at Wrestlemania 29? Well, if one of them holds the Intercontinental Championship, you have them fight for it. Luckily for WWE, that's the case. Will fans consider themselves as lucky after Wade Barrett and The Miz square off tomorrow night (April 7, 2013) in East Rutherford, New Jersey?

Wade Barrett (c) vs. The Miz

The Miz has held almost every title the WWE currently sanctions. Wade Barrett has been at the forefront of one of the company's biggest angles of the last half-decade, and is the current Intercontinental Champion. After numerous rumors about what the company would have two of what it seems to consider future main eventers do on "The Grandest Stage of All" this year, the two have settled into a program with each other.

The Road to WrestleMania 29

Their issues began during a triple threat match for the strap, when the Brit faced off against the former reality star and nine-time Intercontinental Champ Chris Jericho. It seemed certain that he was sending a message that he was coming for the white and gold belt:

On Raw two weeks before the show in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Miz made the match official after he forced the bare-knuckled brawler to tap out following a figure-four leg lock:

What's at Stake?

The original secondary belt of the McMahon family promotion, with an over thirty year history of being worn by many of the greats in the company.

Both of these men have been given a taste of the highest heights in pro wrestling, but for various reasons failed to remain there. A victory and/or a good showing tomorrow night could go a long way toward determining if they are headed back to the main event or destined to remain around the middle of the WWE pack.
