If you pay attention to pro wrestling rumors -- and you should because we cover them all week right here -- the latest round have CM Punk taking some time off after his match against Undertaker at WrestleMania 29 this Sunday night (April 7, 2013) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
But if we're to believe the man himself in a recent interview with ESPN, that's not what's happening.
Actually, "The Straight Edge Superstar" is now claiming he wants to hook up with fellow Paul Heyman protege Brock Lesnar to form one badass tag team so they could feud with Team Hell No or Dolph Ziggler and Big E. Langston over the tag team titles.
Seriously.
Paul Heyman is acting as an advisor to both you and Brock Lesnar. Are we ever going to see you guys join forces in a tag team?
"I'd love to. That's actually something we're discussing, yes."
How about a match against Brock? Is that something we can expect in the future?
"I think that would be horrible for him. He doesn't want to fight me."
...
I'm not sure about Undertaker's health and if he'll stick around much after WrestleMania, so after your big match this weekend, who do you see yourself feuding with next?
"I would honestly love to tag with Brock Lesnar. If it was up to me, I would do that and take on Kane and Daniel Bryan or Dolph (Ziggler) and Big E., whoever has the straps after WrestleMania."
The chances of this seem ridiculously slim, considering the money Brock costs and the fact that he wouldn't be making it back for the company in a tag team with Punk. Or at least you wouldn't think he would, though Triple H and Stone Cold Steve Austin did well as The Two Man Power Trip back in 2001.
Small sample size aside.
The big money would be in a feud between the two and Punk wisely plants the seed for that too. Or it's possible they form a tag team and use that to get to a match between the two. Either way, Punk vs. Brock was another big rumor floating around seeing as Lesnar signed another deal with WWE to go through 2014.
He's going to need to feud with someone and he's already covered both John Cena and Triple H.
We'll just have to stay tuned to find out. In the meantime, how does all this sound to you Cagesiders?
