When last WWE fans saw Kane, he was taking the pin in Saudi Arabia at the end of the cash grab/dream match between the Brothers of Destruction of D-Generation X.
Whatever he’s been doing since can’t be much worse than that, right?
Thankfully, as far as we can tell from the internet, it hasn’t. In his other gimmick as Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, he’s mostly been doing mayor-y things like warning his constituents about sink holes and wearing clothes with the logo of one of his town’s sports team’s rivals due to having lost a charitable wager over a recent game to the mayor of the rival’s city.
He also hopped in a SUV to do the local news version of “Carpool Karaoke”. That mostly means talking, but occasionally belting out some AC/DC or Joan Jett, with Russell Biven from Knoxville’s WBIR 10.
There’s also some fantasy booking of a Jacobs/Biven tag team, and lots of talk of George Michael & Andrew Ridgeley ... but strangely, there’s nary a careless whisper of a song by 80s duo Wham! in the clip...
If the above doesn’t load for you, the segment is available on the WBIR YouTube channel here. For some reason, they have it locked down so videos posted there can’t be embedded on other sites.
So... very little karaoke, but we do get an “Adventures of Teenage Kane” tale that comes with this yearbook photo. It more than makes up for not hearing any BritPop covers:
The Big Red Mayor may have hung up the mask & tights, but he still knows how to promote TV. He did so with “10Tune Up” by declaring it either the best or worst segment television history...
Quite possibly, either the greatest or worst segment in television history! @wbir @WBIRrussell https://t.co/W775ghocJK

We’ll take his word on the worst part... the man has been accused of killing then sleeping with someone on national television. He knows bad. Not sure on his credentials for judging the best the medium has to offer, but he’s done good work. Those Dr. Shelby skits are all timers, so... we’ll allow it.
Anyway, that’s what’s up with Mayor Kane.
