GLOW announces its second season return date with Flashdancing

Netflix’s GLOW managed to live up to high expectations with a funny, drama-filled first season which managed to honor the source material as a campy pro wrestling show without being a campy pro wrestling show.

It’s been about a year since the first batch of episodes dropped on the streaming service, so fans were starting to anticipate the already announced second season. With the above Flashdance karoake clip (wait for Marc Maron’s Sam Sylvia for the punchline), we learn the ten new episodes will arrive June 29.

Tide yourself over with Alison Brie’s Ruth Wilder/Zoya, Betty Gilpin’s Debbie Eagan/Liberty Belle and a whole bunch of hair spray, leotards and leg warmers.

UPDATE: Here’s more information on season two, via a timely press release:

“Season 2 follows the women of GLOW as they become local celebrities, confronting the good, the bad, and the ugly realities of their newfound fame. As Ruth (Alison Brie) and Debbie (Betty Gilpin) settle into the day-to-day of making a season of TV together, they confront lingering issues at the heart of their friendship. Sam (Marc Maron) is still Sam, but now he has a teenage daughter living with him and twenty episodes to churn out. The wrestling is harder, the stakes are higher, and the hair is even bigger.”
