Impact Wrestling’s head writer resigns from TNA

Impact Wrestling’s Senior Director of Creative Writing announced his resignation from the company a short time ago. Dave Lagana has been with TNA for five years, and prior to that has worked as a writer for WWE and a producer for Ring of Honor (ROH).

In a written statement, Lagana thanked a list of people he’s worked with throughout his career, and specified “the talented and underappreciated television production crew and locker room” from among those at TNA with whom he was grateful to have worked.

While he didn’t mention anything about the latest round of financial drama for the company or the legal/ownership struggle going on with Dixie Carter, Billy Corgan and Anthem Entertainment, he said his decision was “one I made to create a future that I control”.

Even without that, it’s nearly impossible to believe the stories which have dominated the news about TNA over the last several months didn’t play a role in his decision. PWInsider indicates their sources say Anthem plans to add many of their own people to the creative team once they’re officially in control.

This could be the first of a wave of changes behind-the-scenes at Impact Wrestling.

Stay tuned.
