TNA Impact Ratings (May 3, 2016): Viewership takes a dip

Abyss on Twitter

After a few weeks of climbing viewership numbers for TNA Impact, they took a dip for last night's episode. This week brought in 303,000 viewers, which is a significant drop from last week's 332,000. Last week's number was one of the best they've posted since being on Pop TV.

A drop from the last two weeks shouldn't be too much of a shock since the two episodes of Impact prior had major advertised matches. Two weeks ago Matt Hardy had a promoted match with Jeff Hardy and a sibling rivalry between those to is bound to create interest. Then last week was their Sacrifice special, where most of the matches were advertised, including a title match between Tyrus and Drew Galloway and the main event grudge match featuring young stars Ethan Carter and Mike Bennett. The main event ended with EC3 getting pinned for the first time in two years, so it's possible that the spoilers out there drew some interest to see how TNA got to that point.

This week did not have anything major advertised prior and it was a show meant to set the table for their Slammiversary pay-per-view coming up in June. The question going forward is whether they will get those numbers back as they start to announce some matches and establish some feuds.

The numbers for the month prior were as follows:

  • April 26: 332,000
  • April 19: 312,000
  • April 12: 286,000
  • April 5:  272,000 (first run only)

You can read the results from last night's show here and you should watch our own Sean Rueter and Keith Harris discuss the image of TNA with Maria Kanellis Bennett here.
