Michael Bennett debuts (with Maria Kanellis) as TNA's 'Miracle'

It was just about the worst kept secret in pro wrestling.

Mike Bennett debuted for TNA tonight during the Impact Wrestling relaunch on Pop TV. His wife, Maria, also appeared. She introduced her husband with a promo putting down the fans who need a "miracle", with the former Ring of Honor and New Japan wrestler being the "pro wrestling Jesus".

Dixie Carter and company hyped the miracle gimmick beginning last weekend. Her promise to bring in exciting free agents for the relaunch of TNA's flagship show netted Bennett, an established independent star who never managed to really break out, and package him with a heel version of Drew Galloway's character.

Bennett declared that he'd keep an eye on the main event of the show, the finale of the World Title Series to crown a new champion, fought between Ethan Carter III and Matt Hardy.

Given the hype for his debut, his being the big signing of their hiatus and the fact that his wife has WWE on her resume, Bennett will probably be in the main event soon.

Will that help TNA move the needle? Based on what we saw tonight, it doesn't seem likely, but time will tell.
