Their biggest live pay-per-view (PPV) event of the year, Bound for Glory, is a little more than a week away, but TNA is already promoting a house show at the end of October that they've turned into one of the One Night Only events they allegedly do to meet contractual obligations.
In and of itself, that would be fodder for the LOLTNA file, but the really troubling thing about the October 30 show from Louisiana they're now billing as The Battle of New Orleans is that it will be main evented by Kurt Angle and Eric Young wrestling in a steel cage.
That's 46 year old Kurt Angle, who's months removed from surgery to remove a benign tumor from his surgically repaired neck and an emergency trip back to the hospital when complications from that surgery left him without feeling in his extremities.
But its also the Olympic gold medalist and biggest star TNA has on what he's already stated are his last few months with the company - at least for now, so Dixie Carter better use him while she can, right?
No.
In a week where we've watched and worried when an older worker without any extensive history of spinal damage lost sensation in his arms and legs during a match, this is not a risk Angle should be taking, or Carter & team should be asking him to take. And not to kick a promotion when they're down, but especially not for a show that might draw a 1,000 at the gate and 5,000 PPV buys.
Here's the advertised card, in case you want to cover your eyes if Angle does another moonsault:
