Despite recent turmoil with Spike TV, Tito Ortiz planning September return to TNA Impact Wrestling

Spike TV

Vince Russo out, Tito Ortiz in?

TNA Impact Wrestling has been in the headlines over the past couple of weeks after news broke that its partnership with Spike TV was coming to an end this fall, which means the world's number two professional wrestling organization -- at least in terms of stateside visibility -- could be homeless by October.

But that won't stop the Bellator light heavyweight attraction from returning to the ring.

"I'm actually returning August or September," Ortiz told Cageside Seats. "I'll be coming back to TNA and doing some stuff. It's in the works with Dixie. She reached out to me and I'm a big wrestling fan. I've been a wrestling fan since Junkyard Dog! We have some ideas."

Ortiz is no stranger to the wrasslin' business.

"The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" was revealed as the mystery man behind the #August1Warning nearly a year ago, and went on to feud with fellow mixed martial arts (MMA) import Quinton Jackson as a lead-in to their Bellator 106 pay-per-view (PPV) clash.

Unfortunately, Ortiz was felled by a neck injury and forced to withdraw.

Not only did that boot him from the cage, it also put the kibosh on his TNA run, otherwise known as karma, according to Impact queenpin Dixie Carter. An interesting critique, considering the recent turn of events, but Ortiz isn't buying the doom-and-gloom scenario regarding the promotion's future.

"I think Spike TV needs pro wrestling on there," Ortiz continued. "I know they have a big fan base. Maybe it's all just negotiations, back-and-forth with money. It's a business and I understand that, so we'll see what happens."

Indeed.

While the likelihood of Ortiz resuming his feud with "Rampage" is currently idling on the corner of Slim & None, there does exist another Bellator headliner who's currently getting his hands dirty on the cable television network in the form of Bobby Lashley.

The plot thickens.
