On tonight's episode of TNA Impact in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the fallout edition from the Slammiversary pay-per-view (PPV) that went down this past Sunday night in Dallas, Eric Young lost the heavyweight title to Bobby Lashley in the main event of the evening.
This after he successfully defended it against Kenny King at the start of the show.
Here's the video:
The entire story of tonight's show was MVP going on a power trip and forcing Young into a situation he was never going to get the best of. The underdog champion with a bushy beard is no more.
For those who continue harping on TNA for aping WWE storylines, this certainly isn't going to help matters. After all, it was just a couple weeks ago that Daniel Bryan was forced to vacate the WWE world heavyweight title due to injury. Fans wondered how much longer Young would hold his title considering he won it in nearly the exact same manner as Bryan, apparently in an effort to imitate it.
Well, this is the first episode of Impact the company has taped since Bryan relinquished the title. The timing is interesting, if nothing else.
