After teasing a big announcement on Twitter this morning that would drop this afternoon, TNA has revealed its latest "big bombshell": Matt Hardy will make his return to the company at the upcoming Impact tapings in New York City later this month.
From ImpactWrestling.com:
ImpactWrestling.com has learned that TNA has come to terms with Matt Hardy to appear at IMPACT in New York City, which marks the first time that Matt has been inside a TNA ring in three years - this was also the last time a match featuring the Hardy's was nationally televised.
And Hardy on Twitter:
Just landed in NC, turned my phone on, & the 'net has imploded! Yes, I'm teaming w/ Jeff at @IMPACTWRESTLING. I'll ALWAYS have Jeff's back!
— Matt Hardy (@MATTHARDYBRAND) June 16, 2014
It doesn't appear as though he's been signed to work with TNA long term, instead simply teaming up with his brother Jeff -- who may be going away from the Willow character, although that part is unclear as well -- for some sort of tag team match. Considering ongoing storylines, The Hardy Boyz vs. Magnus and Bram makes sense.
This will mark the first time in three years Matt has worked with TNA. His initial run was a disaster of epic proportions, marked by his getting suspended for tardiness and cheering on Jeff tasering his girlfriend in a bizarre video on YouTube and later getting released by the company for a DWI arrest while he was still out suspended.
