UPDATE: A new main event for this show has been announced. Click here for complete details.
The go home episode of Impact finally, mercifully, aired last night on Spike TV, which means TNA was free and clear to finalize its match card and line-up for the Slammiversary pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for this Sun., June 15, 2014, at College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.
That includes officially announcing MVP will NOT be wrestling Eric Young in the main event. Read more on that here.
A replacement has yet to be revealed but we'll pass along word on that just as soon as TNA gets around to doing the same. In the meantime, here is what's in store this weekend:
- Eric Young vs. TBA (Steel cage heavyweight title)
Bobby Lashley is a dark horse to replace MVP in the title match main event but it's TNA, and anything could happen.
- Kurt Angle announces next TNA Hall of Famer
No one seems to have even a hint of who this will be but names like Young, Bobby Roode, and even Mike Tenay have been thrown around.
- Bully Ray vs. EC3 (Texas Death)
This isn't just a grudge match, it's a TEXAS DEATH MATCH.
- Bobby Lashley vs. Samoa Joe
Subject to change if Lashley is chosen to step in for MVP, which would seem likely considering booking of late. This match was a last minute addition anyway.
- Willow vs. Magnus
Willow will have Abyss in his corner for reasons no one understands and Magnus will have his psychotic mate Bram.
- Sanada vs. Manik vs. Tigre Uno vs. Crazzy Steve vs. Eddie Edwards vs. Davey Richards (X Division Ladder)
A late addition given zero build with no rhyme or reason that will (hopefully) tear the house down.
- Angelina Love vs. Gail Kim (Knockouts)
This has been the direction for a few weeks now, though there don't appear to be any plans to go away from The Beautiful People so soon.
- James Storm vs. Ken Anderson
A feud marked by Anderson impersonating Storm by acting drunk and screaming "I LIKE BEER" for 10 minutes on Impact.
- Austin Aries vs. Kenny King
The lower level of the main storyline.
- The Von Erich Family "to appear"
Not sure what role they will have, but as of now they're still advertised to be there, though TNA didn't mention them on TV.
That's the card as it stands now, Cagesiders. Are any of you buying?
