Despite what you may have heard or read in the past few months, TNA doesn't always make the worst decisions. In fact, sometimes the powers that be within the company strike the perfect note in how they handle a difficult situation.
Such was the case last night (Aug. 15, 2013) at Hardcore Justice when promotion President Dixie Carter came out with the Main Event Mafia to reveal the reason behind Kurt Angle's leaving the group to go on hiatus.
"Two weeks ago, Kurt Angle entered a rehabilitation facility. At this time he is still in there and exactly when he'll return is still in question. Kurt knows he has my complete support, the support of the entire company, and especially this gentlemen in the ring with me right now. I know each and every one of you here tonight in the arena and those of you watching around the world right now join me and all of us in supporting Kurt. Kurt, we love you, we're thinking about you during this difficult time. You hang in there and get back to us real soon, please, okay?"
No injury angle, no half baked explanation for his absence, just the cold hard truth of the matter and a show of support for a wrestler who is clearly still going through a difficult time in his life.
There's a discussion to be had regarding whether or not TNA should even let Angle come back to work once he does get cleaned up, considering the wear and tear on his body and his chosen method for dealing with his myriad injuries being taken away from him, but that's for another time.
For now, let's give a golf clap to TNA for getting it right for once.
