When Chris Sabin won the X-Division championship from Kenny King and Suicide at the Slammiversary pay-per-view (PPV) on June 2 in Boston, he was put over big by TNA General Manager Hulk Hogan before "The Hulkster" revealed he would once again be given the opportunity to give the belt for a shot at the heavyweight title at the Destination X event in July.
There was just one problem with Hogan saying that: Destination X was discontinued as a PPV when the company cut back its schedule of live PPV's down to just four.
Because of Hogan's announcement, there was speculation that the promotion would go with the path of least resistance, which is to simply dedicate an episode of Impact to the gimmick show, which features all the X Division talent on the roster, and call that Destination X.
As it turns out, that's exactly what's happening.
TNA President Dixie Carter announced on her Twitter that when Impact goes rolling into the Broadbent Arena in Louisville, Kentucky, on July 18, it will do so with current X-Division Champion Chris Sabin possibly challenging Bully Ray for his heavyweight title.
Even though he's saying he's not sure yet, expect him to do so.
This must have been a recent decision too, considering the video promo for the event doesn't even mention any of this at all, including Sabin:
