TNA 'Genesis' Preview: Rob Van Dam vs. TBD for the X Division Championship

X Division Championship: Rob Van Dam (c) vs. To Be Determined

Rob Van Dam will defend his X Division Championship against the winner of the #1 Contender Tournament Final.

The Road to Genesis

Rob Van Dam defeated Zema Ion at Bound For Glory (Oct. 14) to win his first X Division Championship, and hasn't looked back since. He has proven to be a fighting champion, and has successfully defended the title against Ion, Joey Ryan, Kid Klash, Austin Aries, and Kenny King over the past three months. His wins have been impressive so far, and he looks to continue his reign tonight.

Either Kenny King or Christian York will face RVD for the championship, depending on who wins the #1 Contender Tournament Final. Both men have proven to be quite the fighters since joining TNA, but only one can emerge to challenge for the strap.

What's at Stake?

This is Rob Van Dam's first run as X Division Champion, and he is making it count. He is 90 days in and he has five successful title defenses under his belt. Another win tonight and he will make his reign all the more impressive. However, RVD is getting older and older. It is uncertain if he can keep up with the young talent that is breaking into TNA. Losing the belt may be one of the first signs of his eventual decline.

Both Kenny King and Christian York want to separate themselves from the rest of the TNA roster. Defeating a pro wrestling legend would be an impressive notch in anyone's belt. Add that to the fact that the X Division Champion is TNA's premier title, and a win would really send either King or York's career skyward.

In the battle of acronyms, will it be RVD or TBD emerging as the X Division Champion? Please stick around Cageside Seats while we cover TNA's Genesis to find out!
