TNA 'Final Resolution' Preview: Rob Van Dam vs. Kenny King for the X Division Championship

X Division Championship: Rob Van Dam (c) vs. Kenny King

"The Whole F'n Show" Rob Van Dam will defend the X Division Championship against TNA newcomer Kenny King.

The road to Final Resolution

Rob Van Dam defeated Zema Ion at Bound For Glory (Oct. 14) to win his first X Division Championship. RVD has proven to be a fighting champion, and has successfully defended the title against Ion, Joey Ryan, Kid Klash, and Austin Aries over the past two months. His wins have been impressive so far, and he looks to continue his reign tonight.

Kenny King has had a long and winding path to get to this point. He was working with TNA in 2005-06, but failed to win a single match in that timeframe. He would move to Ring of Honor (ROH) to gain some experience. King would win the ROH World Tag Team Championship before trying his hands at greener pastures.

King won his first match in TNA on July 5, qualifying him for the X Division Championship tournament at Destination X. He would eventually lose in an Ultimate X match for the title against Zema Ion. King would get two more shots at Ion, but failed to capitalize in both. Now, though, King has been chosen to go one-on-one against RVD.

What's at stake?

This is Rob Van Dam's first run as X Division Champion, and he is making it count. He is 55 days in and he already has four successful title defenses under his belt. Another win tonight and he will make his first reign all the more impressive. However, RVD is getting older and older. It is uncertain if he can keep up with the young talent that is breaking into TNA. Losing the belt may be one of the first signs of his eventual decline.

Kenny King has had a few chances to grab the X Division Championship, but has fallen short on all of them. The talent is surely there for him to win the gold; he just needs to put it all together for one match. A victory here will vault him to the top of the division. Another loss in a championship match, though, and people may start wondering if he was given too much, too fast.

Can Rob Van Dam continue his impressive run as X Divsion Champion, or will Kenny King's youth overpower RVD's experience? Find out TONIGHT at TNA's Final Resolution.
