CSS STAFF PREDICTIONS:
Jeff Hardy (c) vs. Bobby Roode (TNA World Heavyweight Championship)
- The General: Hardy has been wanting to change his character for a while and he's talked about wanting to do so with a death and revival sort of scenario. That would mean killing off the current incarnation and he can't do that as long as he has the heavyweight title. Oh, and the name of TNA's first PPV next year? Genesis. Pick: Roode
- Keith Harris: I believe the rumours that TNA won't dream of doing anything to upset Jeff Hardy until he decides whether to re-sign with the company or jump ship to WWE, so he's not doing any jobs until then. Roode's a very versatile performer, perhaps the best in the company, but it also just seems way too early for him to get another spell with the title, after such a long run earlier this year. So Jeff wins clean in a strong match after the Swanton. Pick: Hardy
- Jesse Holland: I'm taking Jeff Hardy because we've already been down this Roode before, and what better way to reboot the "charismatic enigma" than with a world title? Especially if it's obtained through malevolent means? Let's hope instead of victory confetti they rain down Neutrogena cleaning towelettes. It's enough already with the make up. He looks like a cross between Shang Tsung and the Doodlebops. Pick: Hardy
- Nolan Howell: Ah, the battle between my inner mark and the logical choice. Sometimes, it is good to satisfy that mark craving. In this case, I would just love to see the dastardly Bobby Roode return to the throne as TNA's king. I'll go with him to win this match...just because! It is TNA, so anything can happen! Pick: Roode
- C. J. Bradford: Before I would have said it was 100% certain that the Hardy would walk out of Final Resolution as the champion. Now that we know Roode is in cahoots with Aces & 8s, that brings a little uncertainty to my mind. Nevertheless, my gut is still telling me that "The Charismatic Enigma" will retain. Pick: Hardy
- Hollywood Wallace: Roode's underhanded dealing must catch up with him at some point. Is this the night? Pick: Hardy by pinfall
- June M. Williams: The art school dropout is wearing thin for a lot of viewers, but not me. I dig what Hardy is trying to do and look forward to seeing what happens to his character at Genesis early next year. Since this show is all about Redemption and features the Hardy-designed posters and he is defending his freshly revamped artsy-fartsy belt, I go with what all the marketing is visually communicating to me. Pick: Hardy
A.J. Styles vs. Christopher Daniels (Singles Match)
- The General: These two have great chemistry, even if no one on Earth is interested in match number 678 between the two. Daniels is trending up as the most entertaining thing going on Impact today and Styles is in the midst of a storyline where he is slowly losing it and doesn't seem to have it anymore. That means he loses. Pick: Daniels
- Keith Harris: For AJ Styles' losing streak gimmick to work he needs to hit rock bottom, which he hasn't done yet. What better way of completing that meltdown than having his archenemy Christopher Daniels, who exposed and made fun of his dalliances with crackhead Claire Lynch, defeat him while he's down? Daniels uses skullduggery to send Styles into a deeper tailspin. Pick: Daniels
- Jesse Holland: Oh cool, look who's double-parked in front of yet another IMPACT! pay-per-view. You know why Christopher Daniels will win? So they can leave the door open for yet ANOTHER match. That means the TNA roster is as anemic as we feared or they just can't figure out to do with these guys at this point. AJ Styles is on the rebound after TNA euthanized his Claire Lynch storyline but let's face it, they can't possibly show us anything we haven't already seen before. Final Resolution? If only I could believe that. Pick: Daniels
- Nolan Howell: Well, I suppose you have to throw Styles a bone so TNA fans won't forget who he is. Styles' loyalty to the company despite being on the backburner for a good while here is admirable, but it may be time to pack up and travel elsewhere. Regardless, Styles will get fed a win here so he doesn't become completely irrelevant. Pick: Styles
- C. J. Bradford: These two have faced each other approximately 1,382 times in the history of TNA, and I believe that Styles has something close to 98% success rate. "The Phenomenal One" improves that number by a hair. Pick: Styles
- Hollywood Wallace: Styles and Daniels always please the crowd, but AJ typically comes out on top. Pick: Styles by pinfall
- June M. Williams: Again, if you look at the marketing side of things, in keeping with the theme of this PPV, Styles has to be the victor here. After suffering his excommunication loss until Bound For Glory 2013, having had nasty allegations thrown at him, and being called a "failure" by Daniels back in November, A.J. is no doubt looking for his own shot at redemption. Pick: Styles
Tara (c) vs. Mickie James (TNA Women's Knockout Championship)
- The General: Originally, I picked Mickie to win the title because she's the darling of TNA but as soon as Velvet Sky came back, I changed my mind because I think TNA did something similar. They were probably going to put the belt on Mickie but turning her heel would be a mistake and Velvet is the returning babyface perfect to take the belt from Tara. That means she needs to go over here. Pick: Tara
- Keith Harris: TNA really has something with the Hollywood pairing of Jesse and Tara, so I expect her to win with his interference. Also, James, ODB and Velvet Sky chasing Tara for the Knockouts belt seems to make the most sense for a long term storyline for the division. Pick: Tara
- Jesse Holland: I know Velvet Sky is back and it would make sense to leave the strap on Tara, but I think Mickie James gets it anyway because if we've learned anything about the TNA creative "team," it's book first, ask questions later. Pick: Mickie James
- Nolan Howell: TNA seems to be very high on Mickie James' return. However, Tara has been a hot commodity in the Knockouts Division and it is still too early for her to drop the belt. She'll take the W here. Pick: Tara
- C. J. Bradford: I was actually one the fence about this match up until Velvet Sky made her return. There is not a doubt that Ms. Sky will be Knockouts Champion soon enough, and the easiest way to do it is for her to take it from the heel champion. Tara retains for now. Pick: Tara
- Hollywood Wallace: Just keeping Velvet Sky's seat warm... but still. Pick: Tara by pinfall
- June M. Williams: If I know anything at all about TNA and their marketing, which I really don't... but whateves... I say their big push on Mickie James recently means there will be a swerve tonight and Tara will be dropping the belt to her, regardless of the Velvet Sky on the horizon. Pick: Mickie James
Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez (c) vs. Matt Morgan & Joey Ryan (TNA World Tag Team Championship)
- The General: Chavo and Hernandez have been a bust as tag champs. TNA thought they could capitalize on a demographic but they didn't and putting the tag titles on "The Big Morgan and The Big Organ" just makes sense here. Pick: Morgan and Ryan
- Keith Harris: Though Chavo and Hernandez haven't set the world on fire as tag champs, I think they'll retain here. From how he's been handled, I don't think TNA management sees Joey Ryan as a championship level performer, even though they're still very high on Matt Morgan, who won't get over in this role just like all the rest. Expect Ryan to drop the fall then. Pick: Chavo/Hernandez
- Jesse Holland: I hate picking against anyone named "The Big Organ," but these guys are older than me (shudders) and haven't exactly been spiking any balls in the IMPACT! endzone. Even if Guerrero and Hernandez were over with TNA's entire Mexican demographic, that'd still be like, what, 16, 17 people? We're talking about a pay-per-view that draws 8,000 buys, but maybe I'm just overstating the obvious. Kiss those belts
goodbyeadios. Pick: Matt Morgan and Joey Ryan - Nolan Howell: I'll try to keep my words spent on Chavo Guerrero minimal. He will lose. Pick: Morgan/Ryan
- C. J. Bradford: Every time I pick against Guerrero, he makes me look like an idiot. Not this time, though! The Tag Team Championship belts will stay right where they are. Pick: Guerrero & Hernandez
- Hollywood Wallace: This jacked up El Camino is out of gas. Pick: Matt Morgan and Joey Ryan by pinfall
- June M. Williams: Last time we did this thang, I picked Guerrero/Hernandez out of my fondness for
Hernandez's,Hernadezes,Hernandez'??? ... for guys named Hernandez... Anyway, my lovely Cageside babies, this time is no different. Again, I am going with the marketing here (as well as my fondness for the guys with the Brown Pride), also -- I just don't see TNA pushing Ryan or Morgan enough at this juncture to put the belt on them while they seem to be hanging on to the dream that the Hispanic market tendrá que abarcar estos chavos como dos héroes de la propia. Pick: Chavo Guerrero y Hernandez
Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, Wes Brisco & Garett Bischoff (c) vs. Aces & Eights (8-Man Tag Team Match)
- The General: I think it's about time Bischoff and Brisco finally defect and reveal their allegiance to Aces and 8s, as has been the plan for some time. Brisco actually got close to Angle to get the shot at Gut Check to get a contract with TNA to open the door for Aces and 8s. Bischoff, of course, helped. Time to move this thing along already. Pick: Aces and 8s
- Keith Harris: It's time to pull the trigger on Brisco's and Bischoff's turn on Kurt Angle, as the Aces and 8s nonsense has dragged on long enough. Expect a 6 on 2 beatdown leading to the heel stable's easy victory and Angle to get taken out for awhile. Pick: Aces & 8s
- Jesse Holland: Easiest pick of the night. Aces and 8s via Briscoe backstabbing. Not much to dissect here, as this is simply a means to an end. Hopefully Joe -- who I am now convinced is named after the Girl Scout cookie and not the South Pacific Island -- leaves his shirt on. Wellllllll it's the Big Joe... Pick: Aces and 8s
- Nolan Howell: Something tells me that Wes and Garrett are going to play a big part in this match. Something also tells me that their big move will not be in favor of their team. Aces and 8s has the ace up their sleeve here. Pick: Aces & 8s
- C. J. Bradford: I don't think I've picked a single Aces & 8s match right this entire time. So there is only one way to decide this: coin flip. Heads is Aces & 8s, tails is everyone else. And coin flip says...heads. Pick: Aces & 8s
- Hollywood Wallace: Aces and 8s has the benefit of cohesion. It will be enough here, but just barely. Pick: Aces and 8s by pinfall
- June M. Williams: The writing is on the wall with this one that everyone believes this is the time for Aces and 8s to shine with Wes and Garett finally opting to make their flip. The marketing I have seen, tells me we are fooling ourselves if we think that is how creative intends to play this one out. Tonight is all about redemption, Hardy and Styles, if you ask me. Therefore, I suspect Aces and 8s will not undergo their big metamorphosis just yet. Instead, it will be revealed at Genesis; so be prepared to endure more of this crap for awhile. Pick: Team Angle
Rob Van Dam (c) vs. Kenny King (TNA X Division Championship)
- The General: RVD is not the future but King is not the present. Not with this little build and this little set up or planning. This was thrown together to make a fun match for the card. Pick: Rob Van Dam
- Keith Harris: Are we really expected to believe someone who has made only a handful of appearances for TNA and hasn't been pushed to beat a former ECW/WWE headliner? Rob Van Dam wins in a competitive squash. Pick: RVD
- Jesse Holland: Van Dam needs to unload the strap but it sure as hell isn't going to be against Kenny King. Still, should be a nice little spot fest that doesn't have any of the baggage some of the other bouts are carrying around. Pick: Rob Van Dam
- Nolan Howell: This should be a solid match, but King has been off TV for a few months here and there's no reason to think he will get the belt just yet. Pick: RVD
- C. J. Bradford: Rob Van Dam always wins. Even when he loses, he wins. But we don't after to worry about him losing, because he always wins. Pick: Rob Van Dam
- Hollywood Wallace: To the chagrin of many, RVD seems to be still writing his story. Pick: Van Dam by pinfall
- June M. Williams: Yeah, this one is a no-brainer. Color me shocked if King comes out on top of RVD in this match. EasyPeasy... Pick: RVD
Bully Ray vs. Austin Aries (Singles Match)
- The General: This feud really just started, which means the heel needs to go over in some nefarious way, something like Brooke Hogan coming down to assist her man Bully but getting caught in the crossfire and ultimately costing him the match. Pick: Aries
- Keith Harris: The real winners: Brooke and Hulk Hogan, who'll manage to steal the thunder out from underneath the two wrestlers with their family bickering. It doesn't really matter who wins the match, as it's just garnish to the Hogan Knows Best vanity show. I'm guessing Bully Ray wins, which drives more jealousy and resentment between Brooke's boyfriend and her dear old Dad. Pick: Bully
- Jesse Holland: Austin Aries vs.
NepotismBully Ray - Too soon? Probably. Going over Bully Ray does nothing for Aries and I'm cynical enough to believe the only reason this match is televised is to get Brooke some pay-per-view airtime. In unrelated news, my nine year old daughter will be taking over the CSS live blog for Monday Night RAW. She's earned it, you guys. Pick: Bully Ray - Nolan Howell: I'll say Bully Ray pulls those magical "going over" powers from the Hogan clan here. Pick: Bully
- C. J. Bradford: I'm not really sure what TNA is planning on doing here. The best bet is there will be shenanigans to keep this feud moving forward. If you are making me pick - and those are the marching orders from "The General" - then I'm going to have to go with "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived." Pick: Aries
- Hollywood Wallace: I think Aries is a special talent, but Bully is at his best right now. Pick: Bully Ray by pinfall
- June M. Williams: As much as I respect the insights of "The General", I have to agree with Holland on this one. Everything points to this being all about getting Brooke more airtime, by means of any gimmick whatsoever. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they stuck post-it notes of random ideas on the wall in TNA Creative and threw darts at 'em to determine this storyline. (Probably business as usual at TNA, either that, or picking them out of a hat.) Pick: Bully Ray
Those are our picks and predictions, Cagesiders. What are yours?
