WWE's Battleground 2015 lasted for 2 hours 44 minutes and 43 seconds (2h 44m 43s). Here is a breakdown of the timing for every single second of the show, in chronological order.

The matches are in bold. The "pre-match" segments include video packages, entrances, ring introductions, and any verbal promos that occur right before a match officially begins. The "post-match" segments include any celebrations, replays, angles, attacks, or promos that occur right after a match is finished.

Match Times

The 6 matches combined for a total time of 1h 29m 47s. This means that 54.5% of the show was devoted to bell-to-bell action. This is the 17th highest percentage in this category out of the 32 WWE events in my data set, which begins with Royal Rumble 2013. However the total match time of 1h 29m 47s ranks 28th out of the 32 events. The match time percentage was propped up by the fact that the PPV's air time was only 2h 44m 43s, which also ranks 28th longest out of 32 total events.

Here is the sorted list of match times for Battleground 2015. This also includes where each match time ranks out of all 225 matches in my data set.

22m 12s: Cena vs Owens (33rd longest out of 225 matches)

22m 08s: Reigns vs Wyatt (36th)

16m 53s: Orton vs Sheamus (63rd)

11m 28s: Charlotte vs Sasha vs Brie (116th)

8m 50s: Prime Time Players vs New Day (146th)

8m 16s: Rollins vs Lesnar (155th)

So far this is the only PPV in 2015 where Dean Ambrose did not accumulate any match time. Last year, Ambrose didn't receive any match time at both Battleground 2014 and Night Of Champions 2014. However he was featured in a major brawl on both of those shows. And even though The Shield had a memorable match with the Rhodes brothers at Battleground 2013, Dean Ambrose was standing ringside for that match and not an official competitor. Therefore, Dean Ambrose has never gained match time at any Battleground event. There must be a lot of paperwork involved in getting a match for Battleground.

There are 34 matches in my data set that include at least one diva as a participant. Charlotte versus Sasha versus Brie ranks as as the third longest match time out of these 34 matches. The only longer matches were the large tag team matches at the last two Survivor Series events.

There is some uncertainty regarding the time of the main event match because there was no definitive finish to the match. I decided to end the match time right when the lights went out. I have seen other places report the time for that match as 9m 00s, which is the moment when Undertaker nailed Lesnar with a low blow. I don't agree with that time because that wasn't even the moment when Undertaker initiated contact with Brock.

Here are the important time stamps related to the match ending: the lights went out at 8m 16s, the lights came back on at 8m 24s, Undertaker grabbed Lesnar's throat at 8m 51s, and Undertaker landed a low blow at 9m 00s.

I can see arguments for all of these times as the official end to the match except for 9m 00s. I chose the lights going out as the end of the match because that seemed to be the clear beginning of the post-match angle between Lesnar and Undertaker. The lights coming back on is also a possible end to the match, because that is the point when it is clear that both the referee and the champion have disappeared, never to be seen again. Therefore the match cannot continue. Finally, Undertaker initiated physical contact with Lesnar by grabbing his throat at 8m 51s, so it could be argued that was when the disqualification occurred.

One reason this is important is because the main event actually ends up as the shortest match of the night if you choose either 8m 16s or 8m 24s as the match time. This is the only main event match in my data set that ended up as the shortest match of the night.

The main event match was not booked to be even remotely competitive. It was like a longer version of Brock's squash match with Kofi Kingston in Tokyo. WWE essentially decided to make the champion look like crap in order to build up what they view as a much more important match between Lesnar and Undertaker at SummerSlam 2015. Was it really necessary to sacrifice the entertainment value of this PPV main event in order to achieve that goal?

With a score of 2 stars out of 5 from Dave Meltzer, this was the third lowest rated PPV main event out of the 32 main event matches in my data set. The only main event matches that scored lower were this year's Royal Rumble match and Orton versus Big Show from Survivor Series 2013. 28 of the 32 main event matches have scored at least 3.25 stars.

This is by far the shortest main event match in my data set. The next shortest main event match is that awful Orton versus Big Show match, clocking in at 11m 10s. If you remove the outlier Royal Rumble matches from consideration, the average match time of the other main event matches is 23m 11s. The median time of the other main event matches is 22m 09s.

The bottom line is that this main event match, independent of the post-match angle, was a failure. And this had nothing to do with a time crunch, as the show went off the air with at least 15 minutes of time left to spare.

Pre-match Segments

The pre-match segments combined for a total time of 39m 11s, which is 23.8% of the show. This is the 11th highest percentage in this category out of the 32 events in my data set.

Here is the sorted list of pre-match segment time for all 6 matches. For some context, keep in mind that the median pre-match segment time in my data set is 4m 41s and the average time is 5m 40s.

10m 17s: Rollins vs Lesnar (this is longer than their actual match time!)

8m 11s: Cena vs Owens

7m 12s: Reigns vs Wyatt

5m 19s: Charlotte vs Sasha vs Brie

4m 38s: Prime Time Players vs New Day

3m 34s: Orton vs Sheamus

Battleground 2015 included 13 separate pre-match superstar entrances. These 13 entrances took up a total time of 17m 35s. Here is the sorted list of these 13 entrance times:

2m 02s: Randy Orton (with a 0m 46s Raw recap of his feud with Sheamus)

1m 57s: Brock Lesnar with Paul Heyman

1m 40s: Prime Time Players (including a 0m 36s video recap of their championship win as well as a 0m 19s look at tweets from PTP)

1m 37s: Bray Wyatt

1m 33s: Seth Rollins

1m 30s: John Cena

1m 29s: Roman Reigns

1m 28s: Sheamus (with a 0m 16s look at a tweet from Sheamus as well as a 0m 21s intro of both announce teams)

1m 04s: Kevin Owens (with a 0m 18s plug for Hulu)

0m 58s: Charlotte with Paige and Becky

0m 53s: Sasha with Naomi and Tamina (with a 0m 18s plug for WWE Immortals)

0m 51s: Brie with Nikki and Alicia

0m 33s: New Day

Battleground 2015 also included two other superstar entrances outside of these 13 pre-match entrances. When you add on the entrance time for Miz (1m 05s) and Big Show (0m 14s) that results in a total entrance time for the show of 18m 54s.

In addition to 13 entrances, the pre-match segments also featured 3 extended video packages. The video packages for Reigns versus Wyatt (3m 20s), Cena versus Owens (3m 27s) and Rollins versus Lesnar (4m 09s) add up to 10m 56s.

So when you combine the 13 pre-match entrances (17m 35s) and the 3 dedicated video packages (10m 56s), that accounts for 28m 31s of the overall pre-match segment time on the show.

The entrance time for Miz included a 0m 16s plug for Tough Enough.

After New Day's entrance music ended, they cut a promo that lasted 2m 22s. It could be argued that the initial portion of this promo occurred during their entrance time, because they were still walking to the ring when they began talking. But I decided to end their entrance time when their entrance music stopped playing, which happened right as they began talking on the mic.

Right before the entrances for the divas match, there was a 1m 13s backstage interview with Naomi, Sasha, and Tamina. I classified this as part of their pre-match segment time (unlike the previous backstage segment featuring Paige's team) because it was placed in such close proximity to the entrances for the divas match.

Post-match Segments

The post-match segments combined for a total time of 13m 21s, which is 8.1% of the show. This is the 25th highest percentage in this category out of the 32 events in my data set.

Here is the sorted list of the post-match segment time for all 6 matches. For some context, keep in mind that the median post-match segment time in my data set is 2m 01s and the average time is 2m 30s.

5m 00s: Rollins vs Lesnar

2m 09s: Cena vs Owens

2m 04s: Orton vs Sheamus

1m 25s: Reigns vs Wyatt

1m 25s: Charlotte vs Sasha vs Brie

1m 18s: Prime Time Players vs New Day

Nothing important happened in these post-match segments outside of the Undertaker's return. The rest of the post-match segments all ended up very close to or well below the median and average times.

The post-match segment for the main event match is the only one that did not include any replays from the actual match.

Miscellaneous Segments

That leaves about 13.6% (22m 24s) of the show for everything else. This is the 12th highest percentage in this category out of the 32 events in my data set.

The coverage of Ryback's injury and the entire segment with Miz and Big Show (including their entrances) fell into this category.

There was also an expert panel segment, a video recap of the pre-show match between Truth and Barrett, a backstage interview with Stephanie McMahon, and a backstage segment with Paige's team, and the occasional filler commentary between matches.

These miscellaneous segments also included commercials for Tough Enough, Swerved, Total Divas, WWE Shop, multiple ads for SummerSlam 2015, and so forth.

Summary

Here is a listing of how much total show time was allocated for each match when you add up all 3 components: pre-match time, match time, and post-match time. This list also includes where each total time ranks among the 225 entries in my data set.

32m 32s: Cena vs Owens (46th longest out of 225 entries)

30m 45s: Reigns vs Wyatt (56th)

23m 33s: Rollins vs Lesnar (80th)

22m 31s: Orton vs Sheamus (88th)

18m 12s: Charlotte vs Sasha vs Brie (117th)

14m 46s: Prime Time Players vs New Day (145th)

And here is a look at the "Match Time Percentage" for each match. For any given match, this percentage shows how the match time compares to the combined pre-match and post-match segment time. For some context, it's good to know that the median result here over the last couple of years is roughly 63%.

75.0%: Orton vs Sheamus

72.0%: Reigns vs Wyatt

68.2%: Cena vs Owens

63.0%: Charlotte vs Sasha vs Brie

59.8%: Prime Time Players vs New Day

35.1%: Rollins vs Lesnar

Once again the main event sticks out like a sore thumb. The match time for it barely accounted for one-third of the total show time that it received when you also throw on the pre-match and post-match segments. The pre-match segment was longer than the match itself, and the post-match segment turned Seth Rollins into a complete afterthought.

Battleground 2015 had a very short total show time of 2h 44m 43s, as well as the shortest main event match since at least the start of 2013. This show only featured 6 total matches on the main card, and that allowed WWE to allocate plenty of time for most of these matches. As long as WWE is going to continue to spend 40 minutes per show on pre-match segments, it is probably for the best to only have 6 or 7 matches per show, particularly if the divas continue to receive increased match time going forward.

BaconStrips here. This one should be interesting...

WWE Signature and a recap of Battleground.

________________________________________

The Undertaker comes out to start this Raw.

Taker growls into the mic before saying that he is here as a relentless, remorseless, vengeful grim reaper.

He talks about how streaks are made to be broken, but Brock Lesnar constantly had to remind everyone of his greatest accomplishment. Now? Enough is enough. Lesnar has turned smouldering ashes into a raging inferno.

Last night was Taker's true resurrection. After all, you can't kill what won't die. Taker says that he will challenge Lesnar's mortality and conquer what hasn't been conquered.

Lesnar will rest in peace.

________________________________________

As Taker leaves, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are gushing about Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar. Trips tells Steph to get the marketing train rolling. In addition, he tells Steph to tell Paul Heyman to keep Lesnar away from the Sprint Center.

________________________________________

Charlotte vs Brie Bella

Team BAD is on commentary for this one.

This was a pretty good match and a hot opener at that. Charlotte played the face-in-peril excellently as she took some good offense from Brie. Charlotte roared back at the end and nailed Brie with a spear after kicking Nikki off the apron. She locks in the Figure Eight for the win.

Charlotte def Brie Bella

________________________________________

Brock Lesnar vs Undertaker is officially announced for SummerSlam.

As Triple H nicely to Paul Heyman regarding Brock Lesnar, The Miz comes in and complains about Big Show knocking him out last night. Trips cares so little about Miz's life that he books a match against Big Show

Trips calls Miz "Obi Wan" to end this

________________________________________

Los Matadores vs The Primetime Players

This was a fairly average tag match that saw Titus O'Neil get another monstrous hot tag. The end comes when The New Day comes out to preach the power of positivity. One of the Matadores took advantage and landed a Backstabber on O'Neil to win.

Los Matadores def The Primetime Players

________________________________________

Big Show vs The Miz

Squash in the literal sense of the word. Big Show decides to crush Miz's internal organs by dropping a top rope elbow.

Big Show murderdeathkills The Miz

After the match, Show cuts a promo on Ryback, saying that he's gonna appear on Tough Enough tomorrow night.

________________________________________

Backstage, Trips and Steph are admiring a painting of John Cena when they spot Paul Heyman. After they confront him, Heyman says that Lesnar isn't here tonight.

Trips and Steph don't believe him, so more security is needed.

After a commercial, Steph and Trips make a speech to the locker room. They say that Lesnar is probably on his way, and they won't let Lesnar and Taker kill each other tonight. And it's not a request; it's a demand

________________________________________

Paul Heyman is in the ring as the advocate for The Beast, Brock Lesnar.

He says that the ONLY reason that Brock Lesnar isn't champion is because of the demonic resurrection of the Undertaker. Lesnar went face-to-face to Taker and lost.

He repeats his "my client...conquered the Undertaker's streak..." line, and says that he does it just to piss off Undertaker. In addition, he brags about it as it is Lesnar's greatest career accomplishment.

Many men rose to face Undertaker at WrestleMania, and all but one failed. Lesnar succeed, and he is the subject of Undertaker's violent retribution.

Lesnar took away Undertaker's streak, and Undertaker took away Lesnar's chance to regain the WWE WHC.

So for SummerSlam, we have The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar. Heyman makes it person by repeating the "my client" line over and over again before saying that Taker sold his soul to get his revenge on Lesnar. However, Taker's ass belongs to Brock Lesnar.

GONG!!!

The lights go off and on, and Undertaker is right behind Heyman. Heyman begs for his life until Brock Lesnar comes roaring to the ring and THE FIGHT IS ON!!!

As the two brawl, Trips calls down his crack security to no avail as Taker and Lesnar destroy all.

Eventually the entire WWE locker room comes down to separate the two. However, Lesnar is able to break free and the brawl starts again for a few moments, and this happens a few times.

Eventually the two are separated. Lesnar says that he's gonna kill Taker, and Taker responds by saying that he's gonna have to

________________________________________

Backstage, Lesnar is walking when he encounters Taker again, and the brawl restarts (I believe Undertaker is bleeding as well). The two are finally separated and Lesnar is cuffed.

Steph and Trips are talking about the Taker/Lesnar brawl when Seth Rollins comes in and says that he wants to let some things off his chest

Bray Wyatt cuts a promo about how his family stays by his side (Luke Harper is present and has a design of a dartboard with a Roman Reigns bullseye). He says that we're all gonna burn for anointing Roman Reigns. Harper says that it will continue until there's nothing left.

________________________________________

Luke Harper vs Roman Reigns

Before the match starts, Dean Ambrose comes down to stand in Reigns' corner.

This was a slow but good match that saw Harper really concentrate on Reigns' left arm. Reigns was starting to come back when Bray Wyatt pulled him outside, causing a DQ.

Roman Reigns def Luke Harper by DQ

After the match, a brawl ensues with Dean Ambrose being dumped into the timekeeper's area. Wyatt and Harper work on Reigns until Ambrose comes back in and cleans house.

________________________________________

Seth Rollins comes out to the ring.

He asks a question: How does it feel to be wrong about Seth Rollins again?

Rollins talks about everyone buying into Paul Heyman's propaganda and Brock Lesnar running roughshod on J&J and Kane. He talks about us thinking that he wouldn't leave St. Louis alive.

Surprise, we were wrong, and Rollins is still champion. After putting over The Beast, Rollins says he doesn't give a damn about Brock Lesnar. Rollins is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and the most unappreciated one at that.

Rollins rips the crowd, saying that we will never understand what he goes through to keep his championship. He has faced every challenge, but he still has his title, and keeping the title is all that matters. He is the end-all, beat-all champion of the industry.

Rollins starts talking about how Lesnar didn't run away when Undertaker stared into his soul. However, Rollins says that he was robbed, so he wants a little help. To do this, he calls Lillian Garcia into the ring.

He says that there was a missing announcement from last night: Seth Rollins still being the champion. She makes the announcement of him still being the champion.

After this announcement, John Cena comes out. He tells us that we don't have to deal with anymore of Rollins' crap.

Rollins wonders why Cena has come out before congratulating him on beating Kevin Owens before deducing that Cena is out for an open challenge.

However, Cena wants Rollins to stay. Cena thanks Rollins for being a conniving slimeball of a champion, and say that actions speak louder than words. Rollins' actions devalue the WWE WHC and add value to the US Title.

The crowd chants "USA", and Rollins tells them to shut up before saying that WWE WHC contenders have to earn their title shot instead of answering an open challenge to placate the crowd.

As Rollins leaves, Cena mocks Rollins for walking away from a challenge. After saying the man makes the title, Cena tells Rollins that he's a joke.

Cena tells Rollins to man up, and the staredown is on until Rollins walks away as per usual

Paige and Becky Lynch vs Sasha Banks and Naomi

This was another pretty good women's match. Lynch played the face-in-peril here very well by taking a bunch of punishment from Sasha and Naomi. Paige got a great hot tag and beat the hell out of Naomi. However, Sasha broke up a scorpion crosslock and eventually got the win with the Bank Statement

Renee Young interviews Lana, who says that there's no permanent damage to Dolph Ziggler's trachea, and they're waiting for medical clearance. At this moment, Summer Rae shows up in a business suit of her own. Rusev comes in and calls Summer beautiful before making out in front of Lana. Rusev says that Lana needs rest or whatever. Summer slaps Lana for reasons

John Cena, Randy Orton, and Cesaro vs Kevin Owens, Rusev, and Sheamus

This was a pretty interesting tag match. Sheamus walked out about halfway through when Owens inadvertently shoved him off the apron. Owens left after Rusev sold for too long, and Rusev got distracted when Lana came to attack Summer Rae.This eventually led to Rusev getting hit with an AA, Swing, and a slingshot RKO for the loss.

His words:

"Yeah, unbelievable match. After the first two with Kevin Owens I knew I was going to be in for something special. Being here for a while, you truly become a target. I think this (US title) makes me an extra big target. We've never had a bigger flux of talent, especially with an NXT chip on their shoulder. I mean that in the best way. These guys have proven themselves down there and feel, appropriately so, as if they belong here. Proof positive, Kevin Owens belongs here, and he belongs in the most elite class of WWE superstars. He gave me a run for my money but the term 'never give up' isn't always when you're down and out. When you think you've got it in the bag and your opponent somehow acts like he's made of steel you just gotta keep going. Sometimes you've gotta bring it to a level you're not used to. Man, he... that was everything I got. That was everything I've got and I'm just glad I came out with the championship."

Owens couldn't win the US title but at least he gained Cena's respect, hey?

WWE went rolling right on through the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri last night (Sun., July 19, 2015) with Battleground, a pay-per-view (PPV) that was awful the first two times the promotion ran it but delivered the goods here. That is if you like major returns from major stars.

Let's not waste time with pleasantries and get right to reactions to the show (click here for the live blog with full match coverage).

That is not dead which can eternal lie

Brock Lesnar is god. That's the only explanation I can come up with at this point. When you die and get to heaven, he'll be there to ask if you brought Jimmy John's and if you didn't he's going to suplex you straight to hell. So be ready for that.

He probably likes the roast beef sandwich.

Seth Rollins is not god. He's the least deserving champion in the history of champions, even less than that time Kane won the title from Steve Austin in a First Blood match when he was wearing a full body suit and mask. He's an awesome heel champion for as much, yes, but that meant they had to get creative to figure out how to get him into and out of this match as champion without killing Brock's status as god.

Enter Undertaker.

And by "Enter Undertaker" I mean the lights went out, the GONG hit, and Rollins just ran the hell out of there. While that's unsatisfactory for the match itself -- it didn't get a finish, after all -- it's Rollins staying true to his character and running the hell out of there just as soon as an opportunity presented itself to do just that. I can't wait for him to brag on Raw tonight that he beat The Beast and he's the greatest champion ever.

Meanwhile, I quite enjoyed "The Phenom" coming back to settle up with Lesnar. It never made sense to have him lose at WrestleMania and then go on ahead with his career without even acknowledging that Brock even exists in the same (WWE) universe. He came back with FIRE. I don't care about babyface/heel alignment; like Jim Ross was stressing on Twitter, this is personal.

If there was ever a reason for Undertaker to come back, it's not because Bray Wyatt summoned him. It's because he realized he was healthy enough to head back into the belly of the beast and do battle with the only one who could down him.

And, hey, if it's because of Lesnar taking out Kane, that's family business and it's still personal and, well, I'll live with that.

The fantasy booking in my head has him losing to Lesnar again and cutting a promo on Raw the next night where he says he doesn't have it anymore and it's time to retire. Then Sting shows up to stop him, challenge him to a WrestleMania 32 match, and they both go out on that. I know we won't get it, but I'll be happy, at least, that they're going back to tie up a loose end with the Undertaker-Lesnar story.

Plus, the lights dying and the GONG hitting is always great, 50-year-old man or not.

And with strange aeons even death may die

I absolutely love the work John Cena has done in 2015. He's my pick for "Wrestler of the Year" and, really, it's not even close. He's given us so many outstanding matches I've lost track and that's with opponents that include the likes of Stardust, Zack Ryder, and Neville.

He's been great, he really has.

But his winning last night was complete bullshit. There is no defense for it, really. Yes, Cena is a dynasty but at what point do we stop feeding rising heels to him to stunt their momentum? At what point does someone other than Brock Lesnar -- coming off beating Undertaker's streak at WrestleMania -- actually go over him in a feud?

No, this is not a burial. Yes, Kevin Owens can survive this. But an NFL team can start a season 0-6 before ripping off 10 wins in a row to sneak into the playoffs and go on to win the Super Bowl too. The point is they're making it that much harder on themselves by digging that early hole, even if they lost each of those games by 1 point apiece.

A loss is a loss, folks. As much as they supposedly don't matter, they color your perception whether you realize it or not. Bray Wyatt was hot until he ran into the Cena brick wall. Rusev was hot until he ran into the Cena brick wall. And now Owens was hot and he ran into that same brick wall. His saving grace is support beyond what the other two ever had and the fact that he delivered so many incredible matches along the way.

So, yes, he'll be fine. But it absolutely sucks that we're talking about how "he'll be fine" instead of pondering how high the ceiling is. He's been on the main roster for only a couple months and he's already crashed hard into it.

All the best to all the rest

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus: Can we get Orton's family to show up front row at every event he works a match with Sheamus at? I'm not sure I've seen him any more motivated to put on a good match. When he's on, his detail work is tremendous. The draping DDT is always fun but counting to four for the referee and then dropping Sheamus down was arguably the moment of the night. That said, for as much as I love the RKO OUTTA NOWHERE gimmick on Vine, I'm not such a fan of working so hard to incorporate it into every finish like he's still managing to surprise people by hitting the same finish he hits to win every match he's worked for a decade now. Also, like, you're in a pro wrestling match. You aren't Heath Slater in catering just trying to a drumstick.

The New Day vs. The Prime Time Players: There are two things you can count on in New Day matches that are going to entertain you every time. 1) Xavier Woods screaming about Big E's "tricep meat" while yelling at Titus O'Neil that he has the worst leg drop ever and 2) Big E working the clap cadence on his opponent's midsection during an abdominal stretch. I'm still enjoying Titus O'Neil throwing guys around and they put together a fun finish here. If I had the pencil I couldn't imagine booking a tag team over New Day right now but they're making it work in the matches themselves.

Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt: POWER MOVES ON CHUNKY DUDES! This may have been the match of the night, had they not booked the finish with Luke Harper rejoining Wyatt because reasons (rumored to be a tag match at SummerSlam). Reigns works best as an angry assassin and Bray is great as the brainy workhorse who will wear you down both mentally and physically but will also cheat if he needs to. They went full hoss here exchanging great offense like Bray countering the apron dropkick with a hard clothesline and Roman getting out of the corner with a sitout powerbomb. I didn't think I would like this but they came through with what they were trying to do.

Brie Bella vs. Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks: Make no mistake, this wasn't the five-star classic so many are eager to crown it as simply because it was a million times better than a regular Divas match on a WWE pay-per-view. But that's still a huge success, and it should be celebrated. They were given proper time and they told a proper story with a super satisfying finish. Brie Bella, arguably the most hated Diva on the roster, was submitted clean in the middle by Charlotte with her awesome submission finish. What could be better? They're making progress and we know this because Charlotte lost some of her hair -- again -- and no one called attention to it and it didn't take away from the match. That's the fan base treating the women like wrestlers who are wrestling and something unfortunate happened during the course of it but that's it. If that were Eva, it would have been mocked mercilessly. So, again, there was progress here, and the match was fun.

PPV promo time: The Miz is awesome because he actually had me wanting Triple H to work that old gimmick he used to use walking out and hitting a Pedigree on some random idiot before walking off without a word. They did that, too, they just used Big Show in dress pants. So, yeah, that sucks.

I actually really enjoyed this show.

Grade: B

WWE has put a bow tie around its Battleground pay-per-view (PPV) from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri as the promotion wrapped up the show tonight (Sun., July 19, 2015) with Seth Rollins running the hell out of there when the lights went out and Undertaker showed up to beat the hell out of Brock Lesnar.

Preshow Highlights

Ryback's tweets about his staph infection are shown. Needless to say that he won't be competing tonight. The Miz also mocked Ryback on Twitter as well because of course.

Eden interviews R-Truth (who insists on being called "King What's Up"). He says that he may walk around with a tin foil crown and a toilet plunger for a scepter, but he knows what he's doing. He says that he's busted his butt for a long time to get where he is, and he can't wait to see Barrett's face after a guy with a plunger beats him.

The New Day makes an appearance at the preshow panel and does some clap therapy before vowing to regain their tag team titles. A bunch of incomprehensible stuff follows as Renee Young tries to segue to the next segment. Byron Saxton also wipes Big E's brow for reasons.

Tom Phillips and Paul Heyman are in the Social Media Lounge. Brock Lesnar's daily routine before a match? Eat, sleep, conquer in the ring, repeat. How many suplexes? As many as Lesnar damn well feels is appropriate. And what happens if Lesnar loses to Seth Rollins? Well, Heyman says that Lesnar will absolutely murderdeathkill Rollins and walk out with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

The debut of Becky Lynch, Charlotte, and Sasha Banks is replayed. Renee Young says that all nine women involved in that segment (Team Bella, Team Bad, and the Powerpuff Girls) are here tonight.

R-Truth vs King Barrett (Battle for the Crown)

The two tie up and go to the corner. The ref calls for the break and Truth prances around like a bunny. The two tie up again and go back to the corner where strikes are traded. Truth whips Barrett to the opposite corner and attempts a pin after a splash/snapmare.

After his signature air humping chant, Truth reverses a wheelbarrow facebuster into a messy roll-up for two. Barrett heads outside, and Truth follows with a splash to the outside. Barrett reenters and takes control following a rake to the eyes.

After a commercial, Truth breaks a knee to the spine for just long enough for Barrett to hit him with a forearm to the face. He then follows with some knees to the face while Truth is trapped in the ropes. This nets him two.

After breaking a chinlock, Truth is whipped to the corner, but dodges a corner boot from Barrett, causing the latter to crotch himself. Truth starts to rally back with clotheslines and a missile dropkick that gets a two count.

Truth goes for the scissors kick, but Barrett dodges and goes for Wasteland. Truth escapes and hits the spinning single leg dropkick followed by the scissors kick for two. Barrett responds with Winds of Change for two.

The Bullhammer is set up as Truth gets back up. Truth goes for a roll-up for two and then tries to follow up with the Lie Detector. Barrett uses the rope to stave off the attempt and hits the Bullhammer for the win.

Randy Orton vs Sheamus

The two tie up and Sheamus immediately goes outside and plays with his mohawk. The "you look stupid" chant starts as the announce team addresses his new nosering.

Sheamus reenters and starts working Orton's arm until the ref calls for a rope break. The two tie up again, and Sheamus is knocked down, causing him to head outside again. Orton follows and the two brawl outside for a few moments. Sheamus is whipped into the barricade during this scuffle.

After a couple seconds back inside, they head back outside where Sheamus is clotheslined. They reenter and Orton gets to work on the midsection of Sheamus. Sheamus eventually gets up and the two start trading uppercuts. The rally is stopped by three Irish Curse Backbreakers

The crowd chants "R-KO" as Orton tries to get back into it. He runs into a knee from Sheamus, and another knee is dropped from the top rope for two. A chinlock follows the pin attempt.

Orton fights out of the chinlock and shoves Sheamus' shoulder into the ringpost, sending him outside. Sheamus makes it in at eight, and strikes are traded. This ends when Orton starts rallying back. After a few moments, the two end up outside again, and Sheamus is back suplexed onto the announce table.

Back inside, Sheamus goes for a Brogue Kick. Orton dodges and hits a powerslam for two. Sheamus crawls to the apron as another "RKO" chant starts. Orton goes for the draping DDT, but Sheamus fights out and hangs Orton's neck on the ropes. He follows with a rolling senton and powerslam for two.

Sheamus channels his inner Batista as he does the thumbs down taunt as he sets for the Brogue. Orton dodges and goes for a RKO, and Sheamus is able to dodge this and attempt a Texas Cloverleaf. Orton gets out of this and walks into a White Noise for two.

More strikes are traded until Orton lands a t-bone suplex for two. He eventually gets Sheamus in the corner for some mounted punches. Orton is dropped onto the turnbuckle and Sheamus ascends the rope. Orton follows and lands a big superplex for two. He follows this up with the draping DDT and calls for the RKO, causing the crowd to go bananas.

Sheamus reverses the RKO into a roll-up attempt for two and follows up with a Brogue Kick.
The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E) vs The Primetime Players (WWE Tag Team Championship)

Before the match, New Day tells us about how having a positive mindset helps everything, and they say that they can't lose tonight, and they DESERVE to win.

The match starts and we get some chain wrestling between Kofi Kingston and Darren Young. This breaks down and Young hits a neckbreaker and Northern Lights Suplex for just a one count.

Titus O'Neil is tagged in and is slapped a big by Kingston. O'Neil responds with a few slaps of his own, causing Kingston to leave the ring and beg for a time out.

Big E is tagged in and the hoss fight begins with O'Neil getting the upper hand. He suplexes Young onto Big E. Big E is not impresses as he hurls Young over the top rope, hitting the cameraman on the way down.

After a clothesline on the outside, Young is placed in New Day's corner, and the stomping begins as Xavier Woods preaches a sermon on the outside.

Kingston and Big E work over Young well (including Big E hitting a HUGE splash on the ring apron). Young keeps trying to fight back, but Big E just keeps hossing him to the ground.

Big E tries for either a Dominator or Canadian Backbreaker, but Young escapes and hits an enziguiri.

O'Neil and Kingston are tagged in, and O'Neil comes in like a screaming child on sugar. Dude is seriously the best hot tag in WWE right now. After running roughshod, Woods gets a cheap shot in on O'Neil, and Kingston follows with a DDT for two.

Young is tagged in and some insanity starts as Woods is back suplexed onto the apron. He goes back in and eats a kick from Kingston. Big E goes for the Big Ending, but Young escapes, dodges a flying Kingston, and forces Big E into the ringpost. Kingston eats a Gut Check and rolls outside. O'Neil is tagged in and lands Clash of the Titus on Big E for the win.

The two lockup a couple times, and Reigns is eventually whipped into the corner where he responds with a shoulder block. One last tie up, and Wyatt starts throwing the strikes.

After some taunting from Wyatt, Reigns throws him into the corner and starts throwing some bombs before eventually flooring Wyatt. Wyatt rolls outside and responds with a punch to Reigns.

However, he doesn't avoid a huge Samoan Drop that sends him to the outside. Reigns tries to follow with the apron dropkick, but Wyatt reverses and throws him into the ring steps.

Wyatt takes clear control as he just toys with Reigns. He mounts Reigns for the ten corner mounted punches, and reverses a reversal powerbomb from Reigns. Reigns is sent outside, and an exchange occurs on the apron until Reigns is DDT'd onto the apron by Wyatt.

Reigns makes it back into the ring at eight as Wyatt continues the onslaught with strikes, a snap suplex, and a senton for two. A chinlock is then cinched in for a little while until powering out with a back suplex.

Reigns starts to rally back with some big kicks and clothelines. After a couple suplexes, he goes for the apron dropkick again, but Wyatt plays possum and nails Reigns with a big clothesline. He then hits another senton on the outside. He rolls Reigns inside and gets a two count.

Reigns lines up for a spear, and Wyatt reverses into a boot. This pisses Reigns off, causing him to roar into a massive clothesline for two. Wyatt does the crab walk and attempts Sister Abigail again. Reigns powers out and hits his ten corner clotheslines before hitting a second Samoan drop.

Wyatt rolls outside and Reigns follows. He is tossed into the barricade and then back inside as Wyatt grabs a couple chairs. Reigns exits and clocks Wyatt with a punch.

Brie is forced into the corner where she's set up for Sasha's double knee spot. As Sasha goes for it, Charlotte tries to stop it. She's pulled onto Brie's midsection and set up for the knee spot. Sasha drops the knees, sending Brie outside.

Charlotte and Sasha go at it for a couple minutes as Brie keeps trying (and failing) to interject herself. Charlotte goes for a scoop slam, and Sasha reverses into a head scissors into a head smash for two.

Brie and Sasha square off as a "we want Becky" chant starts. Charlotte comes back with a double clothesline and cleans house for a bit with neckbreakers for everyone.

Brie starts to rally back now to the crowd's disapproval. She hits a double bulldog on Sasha and Charlotte, and gets two counts from both of them. After this, she brings out the kicks to the chest a la Daniel Bryan.

Sasha is stuck between Brie and Charlotte as Charlotte goes for a spear. Charlotte dodges and Brie is speared in half as Sasha and Charlotte battle for a backslide. Sasha eventually hits a straitjacket neckbreaker for two.
