BaconStrips here. Let's do this?!?

WWE Signature and Raw intro

________________________________________

The Authority makes their way to the ring. Of note, there is a table with a covered item that looks suspiciously like a title belt.

Stephanie welcomes us to the show and asks if we've missed her (the answer is yes)....then starts trashing the crowd for not being winners.

She then goes on to put over Seth Rollins, who beat three other opponents last night. Both Triple H and Stephanie says that Rollins has proven himself to be the future by beating everyone in his path. And Triple H told us so.

Stephanie presents "Seth Rollins: Architect of a Dream" before saying that Rollins' opponents (Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and Randy Orton) are now in the back of the line..

Speaking of championships, Stephanie uncovers the mystery belt, and it is the Intercontinental Championship. She also bashes Daniel Bryan a bit by him admitting that she was right about his injuries and him being a B+ player.

Despite Bryan's injuries, the show must go on, and a new IC Champion will be crowned in an Elimination Chamber match. A video is then played featuring the very structure.

Both talk about the Chamber a bit until they are interruped by (of all people) Sheamus.

Sheamus starts to talk but is interrupted by a "you look stupid" chant. He sucks up to The Authority before saying that an Elimination Chamber match isn't needed. Instead, the number one contender is right in front of them, the man who stopped the Yes Movement.

Sheamus almost begs to be made champion when Ryback comes out. He says that Sheamus looks stupid before putting over Bryan as someone who has more heart and determination than Sheamus will ever have. A yes chant starts. Stephanie interrupts before Ryback shuts her up.

Ryback talks and eventually challenges Sheamus to a match because "The Big Guy doesn't like bowlies"

Steph announces that both Sheamus and Ryback are in the Elimination Chamber. Trips tells the two men to go at it right now.

________________________________________

Ryback vs Sheamus

This was a decent hoss fight that saw Sheamus take advantage of Ryback's ribs. Despite a valiant effort, Ryback lost after Sheamus faked an eye injury that was incurred as he was shoved into the ring post.

Sheamus def Ryback

________________________________________

Backstage, Trips and Steph are chatting about Rollins' celebration. They give Kane the task of putting the celebration together. As Kane talks, Rollins enters with champagne and distributes it to all. They laugh until Dean Ambrose sneaks in. He congratulates Rollins for his assisted win, and brings up the fact that he beat Rollins one-on-one last time.

Ambrose challenges Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Kane says it's up to Rollins to determine Ambrose's shot. Rollins laughs and says no and leaves. Ambrose shows pity toward Kane and brings up Paul Bearer and Undertaker in the process (he also refers to Kane as The Authority's glorified butler). An angered Kane makes a match: Bray Wyatt vs Dean Ambrose.

________________________________________

Renee Young is in the ring and introduces Neville.

Renee asks Neville about his main-roster debut, and he says that nothing compares to competing in the WWE, and nothing compares to proving doubters wrong. When he's in the air, he's invincible.

She asks Neville about his transition, and he is interrupted by Bo Dallas and WHERE IS THE BO-TEE?!?!!?!?!?!?

Dallas starts talking about The Little Engine that Could, and how Neville is The Little Engine that Couldn't. Neville fires back, saying that he bo-lieves that he beat Dallas for the title.

The two men brawl, and Dallas is sent outside as King Barrett makes his way to the ring.

________________________________________

King Barrett vs Neville

BO DALLAS IS ON COMMENTARY!!!

This was a pretty good match that saw Neville BEAUTIFULLY sell his injured knee...and Bo Dallas completely steal the show on commentary. Barrett gets the win with the Bullhammer after Neville takes one chance too many with his bad knee.

King Barrett def Neville

After the match, King Barrett leaves Bo Dallas to completely destroy Neville's knee, which he does very well.

________________________________________

Rusev comes out to the ring sans Lana.

The crowd chants for Lana, and Rusev responds by saying that "there is no Lana", and that she needs to learn her place.

Lana does not speak Rusev; Rusev speaks only for Rusev., and Rusev did not say "I quit"

Rusev claims that he beat Cena last night when he made him pass out in The Accolade. The only person that really quit is Lana because she was weak.

Rusev calls for Cena to come down so the match can restart. Who comes down? Lana.

She tells us that Rusev isn't who he seems to be. He's misunderstood, and Lana believes in Rusev. She thought that Rusev would be the first man to make Cena quit. She was trying to protect Rusev because she cares for him.

Rusev responds by insulting Lana, and she retorts that Rusev was REALLY saying "I quit" in Bulgarian (can I get some confirmation on this?)

Rusev calls Lana a liar, and says that he needs no one. He kicks her out and tells her to go to wherever she came from.

Lana walks back to the back as Rusev screams stuff at her.

________________________________________

Dean Ambrose vs Bray Wyatt

This was a very good back-and-forth match that was quite hard hitting and saw both men hit each other with some big moves. The end comes when J&J Security comes out of nowhere. Joey Mercury distracts the ref as Jamie Noble shoves Ambrose into the waiting arms of Wyatt. Sister Abigail gets Wyatt the win.

Bray Wyatt def Dean Ambrose

________________________________________

The New Day vs The Brass Ring Club (WWE Tag Team Championship; Xavier Woods banned)

Before the match, Kofi Kingston and Big E address the controversy surrounding Xavier Woods' interference and OH MY GOD BIG E BRINGS BACK THE FIVE!!!!!

Decent match that ends when Big E and Kingston start beating the hell out of the BRC, causing a DQ.

The Brass Ring Club def The New Day by DQ

After the bell, every tag team on the main roster come to brawl. This includes The Brass Ring Club, The New Day, The Prime Time Players, The Lucha Dragons, The Ascension, and Los Matadores. These six teams will be in the Elimination Chamber match

I have a perfect word for this segment, but I will not put it in here. You can easily think of the word...

________________________________________

John Cena vs KEVIN OWENS (US Championship)

Before the match, Cena talks about the I Quit match and how he never gave up and how we are proud Americans. The challenge is then issued. Today's victim: KEVIN FREAKING OWENS!!!

"Hello John"

Owens congratulates Cena, and Owens doesn't introduce himself because he doesn't want to take the time. Cena introduces Owens, and Owens drops the bomb that Sami Zayn was injured before his match with Cena. Cena tries to teach Owens about respecting the crowd, and Owens bows it off like a beast.

The two go back and forth, and Owens actually turns down the challenge. However, Owens vows that him and Cena will fight someday...on his terms. Owens then pop-up-powerbombs Cena, takes the title, throws it down, and stomps on it.

Missing: one pair of pants. Possibly seen somewhere in the multiverse.

________________________________________

Dolph Ziggler vs Stardust

I'm still marking over the Kevin Owens amazingness, so bear with me.

Very quick match that sees Ziggler get the win with the Zig Zag.

Dolph Ziggler def Stardust

After the match, Michael Cole interviews Ziggler. He makes fun of disfigured Cody Rhodes before saying that chicks dig scars. Cole then says that Ziggler is the last entrant in the Elimination Chamber match. Ziggler vows that he'll go through 20 more scars before getting his hand on Sheamus.

At this moment, Lana comes to the ring. Her and Ziggler exchange some playful looks before she plants a kiss or two on Ziggler.

After the second, a pissed-off Rusev comes down and the two men brawl. Rusev and Lana have a staredown, and Lana slaps Rusev. Rusev starts growling until he is Zig Zagged by Ziggler.

________________________________________

Erick Rowan and Luke Harper vs Fandango and Zack Ryder

Squash. You can guess how this went.

Erick Rowan and Luke Harper def Fandango and Zack Ryder

________________________________________

The Bella Twins run into Stephanie McMahon. She says that she has scheduled some "counseling" session because of Brie's emotions. Oh, and Brie is banned from ringside during Nikki's Divas Championship match.

________________________________________

Nikki Bella vs Naomi (Divas Championship)

Ho-hum match that ends when Tamina superkicks Nikki as she's going for the Rack Attack

Nikki Bella def Naomi by DQ

After the match, Tamina and Naomi beat Nikki until Paige returns and makes the save, clearing Naomi and Tamina out. Paige them proves that it's her house when she RamPaiges Nikki and holds up the Divas TItle.

Renee Young interviews Kevin Owens and OH MY GOD KEVIN OWENS IS TAKING ON JOHN CENA AT ELIMINATION CHAMBER!!!

WWE went rolling right on through the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland last night (Sun., May 17, 2015) with Payback, an event that looked a little too much like the one that came before it but featured a fun main event that came through in a way few thought it could. It was a Fatal 4-Way after all, with Kane heavily involved.

Let's not waste time with pleasantries and get right to reactions to the show (click here for the live blog with full match coverage).

It's all about the game

Had you told me before this match that the plan was to kind of sort of tease a Shield reunion, or at least work a spot that would involve Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose executing a triple powerbomb, I would have hated the idea.

I didn't even like the idea of all three being in the same match together with the WWE world heavyweight championship on the line while another guy, in this case Randy Orton, tagged along in a Fatal 4-Way.

But it worked.

It really worked.

It worked as a tease for what will come down the line when the time is right and they can reunite proper. It worked as a tool to take Orton out of the match for a time. It worked to get the crowd hot to set them up for Reigns vs. Ambrose in a brief one-on-one encounter that was as good as anything we've seen from Rollins vs. Orton in recent months.

But, really, it worked to make our hearts soar before bringing them back down and crushing them. It was the perfect emotional set up to suck us in for the rest of the match, one that would feature Kane ruining things -- because Kane ruins everything -- and Rollins doing what we suggested he should and breaking out the Pedigree as a finish once the chaos settled and the dust cleared.

Fatal 4-Way matches are notoriously difficult to book and/or execute but WWE pulled it off. This was fun, they didn't kill Reigns or Ambrose, and they properly put an end to the Rollins-Orton feud while seemingly settling up the issue with Kane.

That's a win all around, right?

_____________________________________________

To cheer or not to cheer

Here's the problem with the John Cena vs. Rusev I Quit match, outside of the fact that these two should have already finished up their business together and moved on to something new, and it's a problem we've been confronted with before.

I don't know whether or not to cheer for Rusev or boo him.

If the plan for the finish all along was to have Lana quit for Rusev why set it up in such a way to gain sympathy for Rusev? That's what this felt like. He was fighting valiantly to continue on and someone else made the call for him. He never said the words "I quit" as called for by the match stipulations.

It looks a bit more like he was screwed over than anything else, especially considering Cena had passed out in The Accolade not long before and the referee emphatically denied that the match was over because he had not said those magic words.

The issue could be that something has been lost in translation, perhaps literally considering how hard it's been hammered on. If the idea was that Lana was simply translating Rusev's words and he actually did say he quit, that could work well to get him heat as a piece of crap who refuses to accept he's not good enough and puts it on his manager instead.

I just wonder if that's actually what they're going for.

Even if that's the case, it didn't play well as a finish for the blow off to a feud they've spent so much time on and it didn't act as a big breakaway moment for either Lana or Rusev.

That means it failed on multiple levels.

Plus, the match was about big spots that weren't all that big, there were one too many botches, and while the crowd was hot enough for it, it felt a bit too predictable in the worst possible way.

_____________________________________________

All the best to all the rest

Neville vs. King Barrett: Surprising, to say the least, that this was used as a cool down match of sorts before the main event. Then the finish happened and it was clear they spent very little time working out how they wanted to book this. We're also inching closer and closer to Neville being the guy who never wins but never really loses and you eventually just stop caring about or getting invested in the outcome of his matches, instead simply hoping he gets his stuff in because that'll just have to do. Here's to hoping that changes soon.

Divas tag team: WWE has a very real issue, though it's nothing new, with standard wrestling when it comes to the women on the roster. While the Bella Twins fighting hard but losing to the hot, still freshly turned heels is a norm for the men as well, the women are in the unfortunate position of needing to do more, or at least something different, to stand out. And they're never booked to be able to do so. That's what this was. An entirely forgettable few minutes of wrestling.

Bray Wyatt vs. Ryback: A fairly ho hum match to go along with a ho hum program between two wrestlers I'm not entirely sure have any reason to be upset with each other. The ultimate lesson of the match? Ryback is a big dumb guy. Wyatt attacked the midsection early with a big splash on the outside and THE BIG GUY, for some reason, decided to use this match to bust out a splash off the top rope. Bray won not long after and it's hard to imagine anyone really cared either which way.

The New Day vs. Brass Ring Club: I really enjoyed this match, and thought the finish was creatively done and really well executed. Then I looked at social media and felt bad, like perhaps I wasn't seeing a problematic situation. The argument I was seeing: Xavier Woods jumping in for Kofi Kingston and scoring a pin as the illegal man, essentially because the referee couldn't tell the difference between the two, was racist. I didn't see that when it happened, though I can certainly understand the thought process. Woods and Kofi do look enough alike that Xavier could jump in, execute a roll up that dictates he's almost completely hidden from view, and his face is impossible to see, and the referee, having missed the switch we all saw at home, could easily turn around and make the assumption that everything is on the up and up. That was how I read it, though I won't say you're wrong for seeing it the other way.

Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler: This was essentially a remix on what they did at Extreme Rules, which is fine considering their respective styles and the fact that they work so well together. That said, it was built around Dolph sticking his ass in Sheamus' face and ultimately costing himself the match by busting himself open hardway with an ill advised headbutt that had him breaking the Muta scale. Ziggler should be far more sympathetic as a babyface but something doesn't click and this was a great example of that.

Meta Powers vs. The Ascension: They got me. While I'm still not entirely sold on Damien Sandow's Macho Man impersonation, Curtis Axel's Hulk Hogan is dead on the money. That entrance was something special. It was fun. So, of course, they jobbed them out in spectacular fashion. Sometimes WWE booking baffles me, and this is one of those times.

The main event was fun for a variety of reasons, but everything underneath was incredibly underwhelming.

Grade: C+

That's it from me, Cagesiders. Now it's your turn to sound off in the comments section below with all your thoughts on last night's show. How did you like it, if you liked it at all?

It felt so good, then it hurt again.

During the Fatal 4-Way main event match at tonight's Payback pay-per-view (PPV) in Baltimore, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose found themselves surrounding a wounded Randy Orton. It looked for a moment like they were considering putting their differences aside, if only for a moment, to do something fans of The Shield have been waiting for for nearly a year now.

And then, they did.

They triple powerbombed Orton straight through a table (and our hearts).

WWE has put a bow tie around its Payback pay-per-view (PPV) from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland as the promotion wrapped up the show tonight (Sun., May 17, 2015) with Seth Rollins using Triple H's Pedigree to retain the WWE world heavyweight championship after pinning Randy Orton. Sorry, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose!

Was it the best match on the card?

Elsewhere, John Cena retained the US championship by defeating Rusev in an I Quit match thanks to Lana, The New Day kept the tag team titles with some well time cheating, Bray Wyatt used Ryback's stupidity against him, Dolph Ziggler broke his head wide open in a loss to Sheamus, and so much more.

R-Truth vs Stardust

Bell rings and Truth dances a bit because reasons. The two eventually tie up, and this goes nowhere. A shoving match starts and leads to a slapping match.

Jerry Lawler used "future-endeavored"

As the commentary team blabbers on, Truth delivers some arm drags and throws Stardust onto the apron. Truth tries to suplex Stardust in, but Stardust drapes Truth on the ropes and delivers a kick, sending Truth to the ground.

Truth gets back in the ring and Stardust starts to display his vicious side with some stomps and head smashes. Truth tries to get a win with a jacknife pin, but to no avail.

After a few more minutes, Truth downs Stardust with his suplex facebuster. This doesn't work well as Stardust comes back with a Disaster Kick for two. The setup for the kick was quite cool as well with Stardust bouncing from rope to rope.

Truth tries to make another comeback, but Stardust uses a Side Effect for two. Stardust hisses at the ref after the count. Stardust then takes a glove off and starts slapping Truth with it.

Before the bell, Sheamus slaps Ziggler. As the bell rings, Ziggler charges at Sheamus like a bat out of hell, sending Sheamus out of the ring hard on his knee. Ziggler follows to keep the pressure on. Ziggler hits a crossbody for two.

Sheamus tries for White Noise, but it's reversed into a roll-up for two. Sheamus eventually stops the onslaught with a clothesline and an elbow to Ziggler's knee.

Sheamus is definitely in control as he starts to manhandle Ziggler with some stiff holds and power moves.

After a while, Ziggler starts to mount a comeback with some good stiff strikes and his signature DDT for two. After the near fall, Ziggler continues to keep the pressure on Sheamus, who is trapped in the corner.

Ziggler exposes his buttcheek and delivers a Stinkface to Sheamus for retribution for last month's embarrassment. Sheamus runs out of the ring and gulps some water down.

Back in the ring, an angry Sheamus hangs Ziggler on the ropes and tries for a Brogue Kick. Ziggler is able to dodge and hits a Famouser for two.

Ziggler mounts Sheamus in the corner and starts to deliver punches, but this is reversed into a powerbomb for two. Sheamus follows up with a running powerslam for a two count as well.

Sheamus delivers White Noise and immediately follows up with a Cloverleaf which Ziggler breaks by grabbing the ropes.

A very angry Sheamus starts to assault Ziggler with slaps. Ziggler responds with a headbutt and superkick for two. Ziggler starts bleeding heavily, quickly turning into a Muta-approved crimson mask.

The New Day vs The Brass Ring Club (2/3 Falls for the WWE Tag Team Championship)

Before the match, The New Day cuts one of their usual promos about being positive. They point out Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles before trashing the team for not winning a World Series in 32 years.

Kidd and Kingston start. Cesaro is quickly tagged in and takes control of Kingston until Big E is tagged in. Cesaro does the "catch Big E and slam him down" spot for two. Big E responds with some strength of his own.

Kingston is tagged in and received an AA from Cesaro. Cesaro then stomps on Big E and Kingston. Cesaro lifts Kingston in a suplex hold, strolls over to Kidd, and tags him in. After a few more seconds, Kidd and Cesaro drop Kingston for two.

More double team insanity, and Cesaro/Kidd hit the Swing/Dropkick combo to win the first fall.

During the break, Xavier Woods tries to invoke the Freebird Rule, but to no avail as Natalya pulls him off the apron.

The action continues as Kidd vaults in and out of the ring. Kingston is nearly decapitated by a clothesline, and Kidd is almost taken out by a belly-to-belly on the outside after attempting a suicide dive.

The New Day controls and trades tags as they keep assaulting Kidd. Kidd escapes a bearhug and tries to tag Cesaro, but Big E stops him and delivers his splash for two as Cesaro breaks the pin.

Cesaro tries to help Kidd out, but earns a spear from Big E that sends both men crashing to the ground.

Kingston comes off the turnbuckle to deliver a move, but meets the feet of Kidd. Kidd tries to tag Cesaro, but Cesaro is still in Lala-Land. Kidd keeps up with the heels, but this ends when Big E and Kingston deliver their double-team finish to get the second fall.

To start the third fall, Kingston drags Kidd into the ring and tries to pin, but Kidd kicks out. Big E is then tagged in to deliver some punishment.

Cesaro is finally tagged in and starts to clean house with lots of uppercuts. He tries to deliver a Tiger Driver to Big E, but to no avail as Big E wiggles out (I think they cancelled the move since it was evident that Big E was not in a safe position).

Cesaro and Kidd deliver the Demolition Decapitation to Kingston, but this only earns a two count. Kidd locks in the sharpshooter, but Kingston reaches the ropes as Big E is thrown into the announce table.

Cesaro and Kidd deliver a partner assisted Swiss Death and go for a pin, but it's broken up by Big E.

The bell rings and both men start brawling with Ryback taking early control. The two men go in and out of the ring with Ryback maintaining control for a while until Wyatt launches himself at Ryback.

Wyatt keeps control of Ryback despite a couple of comeback attempts. A DDT on the ring apron solidifies this control as well as a senton from the apron onto Ryback, who was lying on the floor.

Ryback barely gets back into the ring before the ten count. When he gets back in, Wyatt resumes the offensive onslaught. Wyatt starts to taunt on the turnbuckle, which is a bad idea when Ryback delivers a powerbomb for two.

After delivering a powerslam, Ryback lines up for the Meat Hook when Wyatt slips outside. Ryback follows and is introduced to a huge clothesline from Wyatt. The men get back inside and Wyatt throws Ryback like a toy.

Ryback starts teasing Shellshock when he is shoved into the corner. Wyatt lifts him onto the top rope and attempts a superplex, but Ryback fights off Wyatt and sends him to the mat. Ryback follows up with a splash for a two count, but this busts up Ryback's ribs some more.

The ref counts as Ryback and Wyatt are down. Ryback gets up and approaches Wyatt, who was playing possum as he sparks up and goes for Sister Abigail. Ryback fights out and attempts Shellshock, but Wyatt fights out.

John Cena vs Rusev (I Quit match for the United States Championship)

The bell ring, and both men stare at each other as the crowd chants at Cena. Rusev takes the mic and yells stuff before acknowledging the divided chants. He tells Cena to quit, and Mike Chioda asks Cena if he wants to quit. Cena's answer is to charge at Rusev.

Rusev immediately takes control with his hard-hitting offense. A "we want Lana" chant starts, causing Rusev to leave the ring and move Lana to a better position.

Rusev reenters and Cena tries to take control, but Rusev quickly quells this with his patented strikes. Chioda asks if Cena wants to quit, and Cena brushes the mic away.

More strikes, and another asking from Chioda. The obvious answer is no as Cena earns more punishment before landing a huge clothesline. This is in vain as Rusev lands a spinning heel kick before acknowledging the Lana chants again. He goes out and speaks to Lana, who is just watching the match.

Rusev tells Lana to give him the Russian flag, which she does. He starts emphatically waving it as Lana forces a smile out. The taunting gives Cena time to recuperate and land his shoulder tackles and Five Knuckle Shuffle. He goes for the AA, but Rusev fights out and lands a fall-away slam.

Cena rolls out of the ring and brushes off another question by Chioda. Rusev targets Cena's shoulder as he is thrown into the steps. Alas, Cena will not quit.

Cena is rolled back into the ring, and Rusev follows with the ring steps. The steps are set in the corner, and Cena is thrown into them. Chioda asks, Cena says no.

Another whip into the steps, and this time Rusev asks Cena if he wants to quit, but to no avail. Rusev positions the steps in the middle of the ring and puts Cena on top of them, but Cena back drops Rusev from them.

Cena goes for a cross-body, but is caught by Rusev and side-slammed onto the steps. Chioda asks, Cena says no.

Rusev starts to set up for The Accolade with his foot-stomp, but Cena moves, causing Rusev to stomp the stairs. Cena then lands the AA on the stairs. Chioda asks Rusev, but Rusev doesn't answer.

Rusev rolls outside, but Cena sets up for the Sixth Move of Doom. He throws the stairs, but Rusev moves out of the way. The two men end up on the timekeeper's barricade, and Cena tells Rusev that he will be speared through the barricade if he doesn't quit. Rusev roars "no", and is speared through the barricade.

Despite the abuse, Rusev won't quit, and Cena goes looking for a weapon, and he finds it in the form of an equipment case. Cena starts to push it, but meets DAT KICK. Cena still doesn't quit.

The men start fighting through the crowd in front of the technical area. Rusev does a lame Alabamaslam on the table, and Cena tries to counter with the AA, but Rusev fights out. Cena sets up a table and beats Rusev with a monitor. Rusev won't quit as Cena continues the abuse.

Cena gets Rusev up and attempts another AA, but Rusev escapes and does hit the Alabamaslam through the table. Cena won't quit as Rusev starts getting mad. He looks for toys and finds the pyro set to his excitement.

Rusev sets up for DAT KICK on the stage, but Cena moves out of the way and AAs Rusev onto the pyro set, setting off some pyro. A concerned Lana comes rushing up, but RUSEV DOES NOT QUIT!!!

The next toy to be used is a steel barricade. As Rusev crawls away, Cena carries the barricade over. Rusev gets up, says no, and eats barricade. Rusev won't quit as Cena lines up for a third AA. Rusev fights out and suplexes Cena on the barricade. Cena, of course, doesn't quit.

Rusev hosses Cena into the ring and lines up for DAT KICK, which he delivers. The Accolade is locked in, but Cena won't quit (note Rusev's fantastic selling). Despite attempts to break it, Rusev doesn't let go as Cena collapses. Although Cena passes out, it does not count as a victory as he didn't say "I quit"

In frustration, Rusev uncovers the turnbuckle and unhooks the top rope. He then gets a bottle of water to wake Cena up before continuing the punishment. Rusev tries to hit Cena with the turnbuckle post, but Cena dodges and locks in a rope-assisted STF. Rusev yells as Chioda asks him if he wants to quit.

Eventually, Lana freaks out, grabs the mic, and says that Rusev quits.

Neville tries to get some offense going, but Barrett keeps stopping it with kicks and strikes. A backbreaker gets Barrett two.

Reigns and Rollins make it back into the ring and brawl until Reigns eats a STO into the turnbuckle. Ambrose lands the elbow on Rollins for two, and Orton comes in, sparking a brawl between him and Ambrose.

Ambrose and Orton go at it until Reigns breaks a pinfall by Orton. Those two now start going at it. Orton tries for a RKO, but Reigns fights out. Ambrose comes in and clotheslines Orton and himself to the floor. At this point Rollins blindsides Reigns, taking control.

Rollins goes for some corner splashes on Reigns until Ambrose interrupts with one of his own. Reigns follows up with a clothesline. Ambrose and Reigns bump fists before going to work on Rollins. Reigns sets up for the Superman Punch before Kane pulls him out of the ring and throws him into the barricade.

Ambrose follows and tries to take Kane down, but Kane stops this with a punch. Orton is the next target, eating punishment from J&J and Kane. Inside, Rollins lands a Sling Blade on Ambrose for two.

After a flying knee, Rollins lands a buckle bomb followed by Avada Kedavra from two when Ambrose kicks out. Rollins lines up for a second buckle bomb, but Ambrose fights out and eventually lands a rebound clothesline. He lines up for Dirty Deeds, but Kane interferes and chokeslams Ambrose. Rollins covers Ambrose, but only gets two.

Kane tries to interfere again, but is pulled off by Orton and dropkicked by Reigns. Orton enters the ring and start working Rollins over and gets a two count following a t-bone suplex. Orton eventually lands a superplex on Rollins despite J&J trying to stop it.

Rollins rolls outside where Orton meets him with a clothesline and a back drop on the barricade. Orton then deconstructs the announce table. Rollins drives Orton into the apron as Ambrose and Reigns recover.

Reigns, Ambrose, and Rollins actually work together and TRIPLE POWERBOMB ORTON THROUGH THE TABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rollins puts his fist out for the old Shield salute, but Ambrose and Reigns don't buy it. Instead, Ambrose and Reigns start beating Rollins and dismantle the Spanish table.

Ambrose and Reigns set Rollins up for a double powerbomb, but Kane stops this. Kane is then powerbombed onto the table WHILE Rollins is lying on it. The crowd wants more, and Reigns obliges, powerbombing Kane onto Rollins THROUGH the table.

Reigns and Ambrose chat for a moment, then they enter the ring. The brothers are gonna do it right here, right now.

Ambrose and Reigns start trading blows until Ambrose lands a cross-body followed by punched. Reigns rolls up Ambrose and delivers a sit-down school-boy powerbomb for two.

Reigns goes for the Superman Punch, but Ambrose dodges. Eventually Reigns is able to hit it for two. He lines up for a spear, but Reigns eats a knee. Ambrose goes for Dirty Deeds, but Reigns escapes and hits a spear until Rollins comes out of nowhere and breaks the pin.

Rollins starts to scurry away, leaving J&J to deal with Reigns. Reigns makes short work of them and The Shield starts going at each other with Ambrose eventually hitting Dirty Deeds. However, Kane pulls Ambrose out of the ring and attacks Ambrose and Reigns with stairs. Reigns is chokeslammed on the stairs, and Orton kicks Kane from behind.

Rollins starts teasing a draping DDT on Orton, but Orton reverses and tries for one of his own until J&J interferes. They eat RKOs, and Rollins eats a powerslam and DDT. Orton calls for the RKO, but is shoved into Kane, who eats the RKO.

Hey, that's Triple H's finish!

This was wild.

The first time The Shield were all in one match together with the WWE world heavyweight championship on the line came in a Fatal 4-Way with Randy Orton also involved. And tonight's Payback pay-per-view (PPV) showed just how well it could work.

They teased a Shield reunion late, with all three members teaming together to triple powerbomb Orton through a table. Rollins laughed and put his fist in the center but Reigns and Ambrose teamed to take him out, then followed up by taking Kane out as well.

That left the two of them to duke it out. "Loser buys the beers," Reigns said.

They got some time to settle up before Rollins recovered to get back in. Then Orton came in to RKO THE WORLD but Rollins got back in and hit his finish -- actually, he hit Triple H's finish, the Pedigree -- to score the pin on Orton while Reigns and Ambrose were hurting on the outside.

So Rollins is still the WWE world heavyweight champion, Kane is still the Director of Operations, and Reigns and Ambrose have come up short once again.

This went exactly the way you thought it would.

John Cena does not lose "I Quit" matches. He was up against Rusev in one at tonight's Payback pay-per-view (PPV) at the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland with the United States championship on the line.

As usual, John Cena did not lose an "I Quit" match.

The match was, as expected, a showcase of brutality -- or at least as much as they can do with these particular performers in this particular setting. The story was really a lot more about Lana and how she would or would not ultimately get involved if Rusev was struggling to stay in it.

They teased as much after Cena hit an AA onto some pyrotechnics. Then, it appeared Rusev may have had the match won after he made Cena pass out in the Accolade. The commentary team, however, debated about the referee's ability to stop the match, considering the entire point of it is for one of the competitors to say the words "I quit."

Ultimately, Rusev undid the top rope, used some water to wake Cena up, and charged him with it. Naturally, Cena ducked, took the rope, and used it to lock in the STF.

At this point, Lana climbed in the ring, grabbed a microphone, and said "he quits! He quits!"

The announce team pondered aloud if Rusev was speaking in Bulgarian as the referee was asking him if he wanted to quit and perhaps Lana simply interpreted it and made the call. That's your teaser for Raw tomorrow night.

Either way, Cena wins again.
